In front is obviously outside lol. You can't get past without getting horribly killed. This is why one of your soldiers suggested to  blow them away.

Despite the efforts of the commander to hurry this, it is impossible. The men finally get to the storage and it is barricaded and full of traps. It seems someone locked themselves in on the other side and placed a ton of mining equipment, modified it and locked him self in. All the mining equipment had been placed in front of the door in a traping manner. Beams, lasers, explosives and what not.

He or she seem to have sprayed in front. "Try going trough. I dare you."

It is all in working condition and is recoverable. Can be reverted to its old status to proper mining equipment. The explosives could be defused and used elsewhere. Altho your sergeant simply gives up as he sees you are trying to force your way in.

Attempt to defuse the explosives and recover the equipment.  It could be used at a later date.

Your engineers refuse. The explosives are placed behind the deadly coridor of modified mining equipment which happens to be turned on and ready to fry anything in its way.

It seems the only way to get past is to blow it all away or to convince the lunatic to open up and disarm it all from his side.

On planet Nova. Engineers errect small automated defense turrets. Anything that isn't a human is shot on sight.
Then they proceed into the mountains with the scientists. The Cranes drop in building materials and mining equipment.
Loud sounds of construction and drilling are heard in the distance in the mountains.

The scientists discover a water source in the mountains which leads them off to the lake. They set up a temp lab at the lake and begin liquid brown townysis. The rest of them study the composition in the mountains. You are soon informed a large ammount of Veldspar is found in the mountains. Which can be refined into Tritanium. Tritanium happens to be a basic building material of the future for pretty much every ship and building.

The civilians now carry arms and crime had incrised instantly. Several roberies are reported. Gangs are forming.
