Buy a Wii U and Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate?
Total value: $340 ($280 for wii u, $60 for game)

Backstory
So recently I was trying to play Monster Hunter Tri 3 for the wii, and I kept getting connection errors. I googled what the error code meant, solved the problem, and then to my horror got another one, which led to a few articles: multi-player servers stuff down to make room for the new MHTU game. I about cried. I didn't even bother with single player, I just shut off my wii and sat outside with my dog. MHT3 was by far, my favorite game, and now I had technically beaten it since single player was the only option. So I looked into the franchise.
income:
For the moment none, which is my big dilemma. I'm getting a job when I turn 18 with a printing company that offers a pretty good pay for a first time job, however its not a million dollars per hour (go figure.) I also new to save up to buy a parking spot at school so I can leave from school to work, except at my school they cost $400. I AM planning on getting my eagle rank soon, so I could bargain with that, but I gotta make sure I end this semester with all As to be able to bargain like that, and due to several absences, I missed a lot of material for some classes, so that'll be tough.

Ideally the question is mostly just is the wii u / game worth it. If anyone has played MHT3 and MHTU I'd love I hear your opinions on both.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is a really unpolished and a flawed game. I regret spending 60€ on that garbage.

Did you ever play any of the other games to be able to make a comparison?

You should rather get a Wii U deluxe with some other games that are currently released and wait for the big games that will show up on the E3, I heard that this game is bad at the point that it's not worth your money

No, but its really pushing the limits. I don't mind low graphics in games like Minecraft because it has a consistent aesthetic style, but Monster Hunter 3 is just a pain to look at. Also most of the gameplay stuff like controls and so on are horrible, yet people defend them as "You have to time your swings in this best game ever I'm an obvious fanboy". Text boxes in the game are so damn small i just didn't bother reading any of the dialog. I have no idea what is happening in the story. Good game.

I've played most monster hunter games that have been released in North America and it's the best of them all IMO and a great place to start in the series.

On the Wii U it looks great, controls better than any other MH game, text boxes are completely loving fine, many many monsters, all weapon types are included and are all unique enough to add replay value. (even though grinding monsters in this is fun as forget)

Monster Hunter 3U is the main reason I bought a Wii U so early in it's life. I don't regret it, it's really fun and so far I have about 50 hours on it, could easily be more, I'm only in the 3 star missions in single player and I'm only Hunter Rank 2 in Multiplayer. It's not for everyone, the series is known for weird controls (however these controls are the best in the series as stated previously), but the "points" brought up by Tonkka were not accurate.

Wii U Deluxe is better "bang for your buck" but getting classic is understandable.
Pikmin 3 will be amazing.

This thread inspired me to load up MH3U onto my gamepad in my bed and play for a couple hours until I get sleepy.

Night BLF.

The textboxes are loving tiny. Maybe its because i don't have my face pressed up against the screen nor do i own some "super vision" which allows me to see the tiniest finger print from a mile away. You disregarded my opinion with your own one, which is an starfish move. The graphics are a polygon mess, the controls are slidy and unresponsive. This loving game doesn't need to exist.

Adin asked for other people's opinions. Yours is not paramount nor the centerpiece of this thread. By saying it's an 'starfish move' to express his opinion when asked to loving do so is completely stupid. Get off your loving high horse.

whoa holy stuff

Is the Wii U version really that bad?

I have the 3DS version and I love it to pieces.

No the wiiu version isn't really that bad. He just doesn't like the game.

You DO have to time your swings, That's how the series is.

Why would anyone buy an entire console just for one game?

Pikmin 3 in a few months too. And smash bros eventually, Might be good to get one before the price goes back up.
