what I don't understand is how you think that makes it okay to say in general??

wait what, friend? i don't care if people say friend, like I wouldn't care if someone said bitch
but either would be inappropriate in a public setting, and some private settings

except the meaning of the word hasn't changed

yes, it has, and trying to take the wrong meaning is just being stupid
i could go to the "friend" example and use it to mean "cigarette butt", but I'd need to find a different example
oh, how about "lame"? Deriding someone using "lame" to mean "uncool" because it also means "disabled (of a person)" is wrong, because not many use the definition of it to mean "disabled" anymore.

I really don't see why you're arguing over a blanket term for a lesser person.
because it's about women. it's only a "blanket term for a lesser person" because it's about women. how is that so hard to understand
It's kinda hard to tell when you act all pretentious all the time.
Now I got to go bed, so forget off.
goodnight trash boat
wait what, friend? i don't care if people say friend, like I wouldn't care if someone said bitch
yeah, I know, that's what I said. you're a problem

that's not okay either????

It just looks like you're making yourself get mad to pique an argument.

are you a woman? no
you don't get to decide whether or not it's okay to say
i am a certified female
and i request that you; night fox; stop trying to decide that it's not okay for cybersix to say that he bitches instead of whines

no

now can everyone please just quit their bitching

that's not okay either????

why are you so uptight about word origins and why do you not care about context at all????
if nobody uses them anymore it's pointless

i mean "bad" comes from the middle english/proto-germanic word for "hermaphrodite", is it wrong to use that word?
"smart" comes from words that all mean "sharp, painful" and one of its definitions is "causing sharp pain", so if I call someone smart is that an insult?
how often have you heard someone use "terrific" to mean "causing terror"?

it just seems like you're taking words when they mean one thing and just going "no they can mean this other offensive thing or used to mean this other offensive thing so don't use it"

EDIT: accidentally put "sharp" instead of "smart" the first time

the thing is though, you're not the only woman on the planet. if you were, then what you just said would make a difference. but you're not

that's entirely different. it went through like three different languages before becoming the "bad" we use now. we made up the word we're talking about

and the other two examples are just ridiculous. neither of those are loveist or tribal or any kind of slurs. they're not even offensive to anybody

you said it girlfriend.

calling someone painful is apparently not offensive
but I mean you're just... trying to take words to mean the wrong thing when they do not just because that was the original use (which is why I did the first example. It comes from Middle English, which is still English, and is also the most recent form of the word aside from Modern English), and totally ignoring that it's just not how it's used.
Although I can see how you'd miss it, I should have omitted the "offensive" part.

ok. this is obviously going nowhere. believe whatever bullstuff you want

Its original use as a vulgarism, documented to the fourteenth century, suggested high loveual desire in a woman
The thing about linguistics is that words change meaning over time, especially over the course of seven centuries
Context is also one of the largest subfields

FYI, "everyone who matters" is women. so there goes that little assumption of yours
So why are you talking about a subject related to women when you're not one?
And then you pretty much dismiss her opinion when foulprairiedog posts

loving this.
It's so funny how when there's a term that's specific to one group, it's not that group that complains about it being used in a non-offensive context, it's the opposite group.
Men complaining that the word "bitch" is loveist
Straight people getting made at people using the word gay/cigarette/etc
White people getting mad at people using the word 'monday' (Hell I have a few black friends who use it in offensive contexts, mostly to denote those who act highly stereotypical)
I'm tired of other groups finding it their job to be offended for other people
Like seriously this whole discussion started because someone said "I don't whine, I bitch" I had to spend a lot of time looking for what triggered this because it's so petty.  Seriously, what? You have to seriously stretch the definitions, context, and everything to arrive at the conclusion that Cyber was being loveist...

Honestly insult words like "bitch" and such really don't have any meaning other than just empty insults now
I mean seriously nobody uses it for anything specific anymore, its just used as a name for someone who complains a lot or just as a generic insult

Its the same with monday, Because I mean all the black kids in my school use it to address everyone now lol

Why are we fiiighhttinnggg

so you can only talk about something if it relates to you? but you argue about christianity all the time??
it doesn't matter that I'm not a woman. there are many women who are offended by the word, and don't think it's okay to say. that is a fact, and it's all that matters
I explained why foulprairiedog's opinion was meaningless already. but beyond that reason, she is trash in general, and by no means a decent source for anything related to equality
