An amazing indie game, Cave Story

Didn't they completely butcher the DSI version?

It's the same exact game on all platforms

You just get more miscellaneous features (difficulty levels, ability to choose "updated" graphics and sound, etc.) with the paid versions

I don't think you can get the best ending without the Spur, can you?
I got to the last save point before the consecutive final boss fights (other than ballos of course) and took a break. A long break. Still haven't gone to try and beat them, especially now that I've found out that I got Cave Story+ as a game that was added on a Humble Bundle.

You can get to it with any weapon

In fact, most speedrunners get there (and beat it) with the Machine Gun

It's arguably the best weapon in the game

I believe it was shmus that once said the Spur only gives the illusion of power because of its relative difficulty to obtain and the damage it does at level 3

i'm going to be completely honest here: i have never even gotten a spur and i've beaten the game on the best ending multiple times with the machine gun.

On youtube people do it with 3 health and polar star, fireball, and blade.

When I had this then got the jetpack, I was like "lol whatever" and just kept using the machine gun to fly.

I've used both the Spur and Machine Gun, and I think they each have their up's and down's.

I've completed the game, But not the real final hard ending. Stupid hell.
