And thats the problem. Nintendo cant market a like SSB without iconic characters. If you had a bunch of non-iconic characters on the cover kids would be like "Who the forget are these people wheres Mario" And they wouldn't be interested. They want to play as the characters they grew up with. There is a generation younger than us now who plays video games, and they aren't old enough to have the games most of those characters are from. They recognize Mario and Pikachu and would rather play games staring characters they know than a game with characters they have never heard before.

Also Sora will probably never be in SSB so like seriously people need to stop suggesting it

He gave me two instructions:
1. List well-known characters (which I did, even if you don't know them)
2. List characters that I liked

These are by no stretch of the imagination, real suggestions.

Also if Nintendo actually didn't stick to a good 5 IPs and started making more gaming series I wouldn't have to list characters you don't know from other companies. Iconic video game characters are literally MADE by these kinds of games and opens up a whole new oppritunity for them to get a spotlight.
