Author Topic: Competition: Win a FREE RTB dedicated server  (Read 21110 times)

I think there should be a server were there are 4 different gangs in one big city, each gang has an equal amount of territories at the beginning of the game and you have to take over enemy stongholds to get more territories like in saints row 2. There would be pedestrians on the street as well as cops so if you kill civi's in the middle of a stronghold rade you will get attacked by cops as well. There would also be your own npc gang members as well in your territories. If you die you get to select what territory you want to spawn in (if you have none left your gang obviously lost). And the point of the game is to obviously take over all the territories and kill off the other gangs.

Did no one see this?

i am more than a little curious to as why kel block has had a dedicated server running his project for literally months now, and i havent seen any noticeable change in brick count, let alone any players... yet he still applies

im not saying kel blocks idea doesnt deserve a server, but fob's internet is so bad its hard for anyone to help him, and derroith cant even host a server now

in addition to that, derroith has a massive map already (120k+ bricks), and has been working on it for months before even his topic was made along with a custom mod and weapons

fob has some of the best builds in his server that ive seen, and with lots of terrific mods to boot, the finished product will have unmatched quality

i thought that i should post this because both projects are very low publicity and most people dont know much of whats actually there

I think a lot of people would find DayB unplayable because of the sheer amount of bricks

I think a lot of people would find DayB unplayable because of the sheer amount of bricks

the main island (essentially everything) is 45 64x64 baseplates long and 30 wide, which is ~1,300 64x64 baseplates total. expected finish brickcount is ~200k, which would leave you at about 150 bricks per 64x64 area. combined with the shortened view distance (you wont notice it; the forests are too thick to see through), you would not render more than 10k bricks at once - a reasonable number by any standards

Sinking Ship!
How it works: Players are spawned at the bottom of the ship. Doors are locked until the ship begins to flood, when an alarm using the alarm light is played, as well with alarm sounds looped with relays.
Players must make it to the top of the ship, and get on the life boats to survive. However, there is a twist. There are only 2 life boats. Players must find weapons and kill other players, fighting for their survival. It's survival of the fittest.
The server could use enviorment events to make the water rise, with speedkart_gamemode or an add-on to make the water kill players on touch. Maybe not even that, maybe the oxygen mod! Players could drown!
When all the chaos is over players must use the life boats to travel to a nearby ship, while shark bots try to molest them.
When players reach the ship, there is a cinematic ending. (maybe this part wont make it, lol) The players touch a brick that not only makes them win, but plays the titanic theme music. It's a cheerful and sad ending. Hopefully this will make it. Enjoy. NOTE: If I'm only allowed one idea, ignore these other small ideas
Small ideas:
-Guitar hero. Players must touch the glowing bricks in order in order to play the song. If they don't press the brick in time, they die, and a new player get to do it. If there is a lot of failures, the song is failed.
-VIRUS- Two teams: The virus, and the Antibodies. Both teams spawn inside of a body build and must capture all parts of the body in order to win. The virus gets special tools that slowly kill antibodies (like invisible fire). Antibodies get the same, but in a different style.
-Man Down- There are two teams: The ambulance and the man. The man is the only man on the team. However, he is special. He is seriously injured. Throw mod must be enabled. Using throw mod, the ambulance can carry the man, who is a playertype that cannot move, to the emergency room. The ambulance must stay at the hospital for a certain amount of time and perform simple tasks to keep the man from slowly dying.

It's just another deathmatch that has to do with the streets. Those are way overused.

By the way Kel'Block says he backed out.

MY ENTRY

Greetings!

Since my idea is too long to explain, I will just provide a link.

Worth a shot!

I like your idea, Derr. I wish you luck! :)
Again, overused, its a tdm/dm. But it seems pretty cool. Semi-support

By the way Kel'Block says he backed out.
Under indirect influence from Monkey

It's just another deathmatch that has to do with the streets. Those are way overused.

Not really. Since there are npcs you have to be careful on who you kill unless you want the cops on you. And there are npcs who help and ones that are against you which there seems to not be a lot of.

Again, overused, its a tdm/dm. But it seems pretty cool. Semi-support
Both of Kel'Block's idea's aren't straight up deathmatch/Team deathmatch, either one has objectives that morph over time. If killing people automatically makes something a deathmatch and therefore, not really worth it, than this:
Sinking Ship!
is just a Tdm/Dm with an oxygen gimmcik, not really worth it.

All for a dedicated family rp server, say I.

So there's this idea I've been thinking about for a while.

It's a very in-depth server where in which players initially start their life as a construction worker of sorts, they'd be able to build a variety of things, however you are encouraged to build a house. The rules wouldn't be too strict, in fact we'll probably see a lot of 1x5 walls and buildings not on baseplates, however that's okay, we shouldn't kick people for not having the amazing building skills.

After constructing a home, the player goes to explore the word he was put into, and interact with his peers.

Eventually they will form friendships, relationships, and settle down with a family. Of course, most people will get children via adoption or find them wandering the streets alone looking for parents.

Only after you life a long, successful, and happy life will you unlock the ultimate ability- you get to be doge.

jokes aside, here's an idea

Build&Support

does anyone remember Mr.Cookie's old build-and-support game where it would be a freebuild and people would "/support" the builder to give them more bricks to build with? I really enjoyed that idea but the idea didn't take off too well because Mr.Cookie couldn't host over long periods of time.

The main benefit of a server like this is that unlike most freebuild servers which don't have much of a purpose and don't stay up long, this one pushes players to actually try their best when building. Most freebuild servers are scattered across the server list, each holding only part of the community's skill. This will be essentially a centralized freebuild that 1) adds a competitive "support" aspect and 2) provide more variety in the bricks and addons available for building with, unlike Block Party. The brick limits you have before you get support also push you to be smart about building, and would overall force people to try out new methods to build things, and especially be brick conservative. As it would consolidate the best attempts of players across the community, it would become a centerpoint of where one could go to learn new techniques, to explore ideas and methods to do things, and to discuss over and improve upon existing techniques.

Builds would range from showpieces to tutorials, to miniature DM's to building a minimap of a TDM that could be created. Baseplate Rules would be enabled, but no limit to lot size (other than unreasonably-sized lots) would be imposed; the brick limit and support system would hold that in check. Authorized admins would come by regularly to look over pieces and clear out builds that haven't been touched in over two weeks. No clearing of builds that are clearly being worked on would be authorized, whether or not the build looks like it is going in a direction that would be successful. Clearing of recently-created pieces would be based on a vote of three admins; if they all agree that the build that was created is spam or is getting in the way for others to build, it will be destroyed.

Vehicles on the server would be modified ones, ones that cannot move and are there for show. This is to allow people to include a vehicle in maybe a garage or a miniature airport, but prevent vehicle spam. Items and weapons would be limited to default, plus duplicator and fill can, and maybe jumpgun or hookshot.

If the code cannot be secured from Mr.Cookie I will personally figure out how to code just for this, if I get the two months. In that situation, I would like to hold off on immediately requisitioning the two months and instead start it later, when the code is complete.
