Tyrones intentions was to steal an ipod from some kid by intimidating him.

If Tyrone had the intentions to harm the kid over the ipod he wouldve had him in a headlock or knife pointed at him if he had a knife, which didnt happen.

my mentality is not going to get me killed, because i know my limitations. if my life is in any real danger you can bet your ass ill play smart and do what im told, but not when its something like a black guy 'mugging' me in broad daylight like a dumbass. like ive said, its not like he was going to die that day, worse that couldve happened it he wouldve got chased a bit until the apes gave up.

Why can't you just own up to the fact that getting in a fight with two men who could easily be able overpower you over an ipod is a bad idea? Why can't you own up to the fact that Tyrone could have been hiding a glock in the back of his pants and when the kid refused he would just pull it out and shoot him 3 times in the gut and then take the IPod?

Uh, you realize there are these things called laws right?

You are entitled to self defense, but you can, in fact, overstep that.  If someone tries to mug you and you shoot them in the leg you can face consequences.
Your best bet is to carry a knife around for intimidation or in the case you feel threatened for your life, to use as a weapon.

The law (for me at least) states that if the person shows a threat than you can use a weapon.
A gun however, you can only use if they have a knife.
If someone breaks into your house than you can shoot them
