Author Topic: league of legends is now officially recognized by the US government as a sport  (Read 10315 times)

I think people are missing the fact that the only reason this happened was to make it easier for foreign players to come to the US for a tournament

Because I don't feel like typing this again:

[12:15:05 AM] Kingdaro: reiterating on what i said about osu! being recognized as a sport, it actually loving should
[12:15:21 AM] Kingdaro: a game like LoL; any idiot could pick it up within a couple months, if not a year
[12:15:37 AM] <omitted>: yea
[12:15:46 AM] Kingdaro: with a rhythm game like osu!, stepmania, k-shoot mania or whatever the forget, it's literally raw, developed skill

And a lot of rhythm games are physical too; "dance" games like DDR, ITG and Pump all require you to bust your balls stepping on panels, often at high speed. Sure you're not running across a field to catch a ball, but it requires plenty of stamina, coordination, and a good sense of rhythm.

Hell, I'd even throw IIDX, Pop'n or K-Shoot mania under the same fields; you only use your hands in these cases, but it's still incredibly intense at higher levels.

if "any idiot" could pick up LoL and go pro, everyone would ... but it's not that easy lol.

would like to see any of you go pro in LoL. you can win a lot of money. and if it's so easy then why not do it?

I said any idiot could pick up LoL. I didn't say any idiot could "go pro".

...Well, honestly, any idiot could "go pro" with a good amount of time invested. It's the kind of game that's made so that, quite literally, any idiot can play for a while and become good.

The reason I'm not doing it is because it's a stuffty game.

I highly doubt it.

Whether or not I'm wrong about that wasn't the point my post at all. It was that, if LoL is a sport, a lot of other games should be considered one as well. I only targeted rhythm games specifically.

DDR could be a good sport because the learning curve is about 90 degrees up
seriously have you tried playing anything at level 8+ ? holy forget it's INHUMAN

i think it's silly, but then again chess is regarded as a sport as well.

i think it's just that when someone thinks of sport , they think of football and such.

I highly doubt it.
no, it's not very hard at all, i was pretty much dominating right off the bat (though i like to think i'm not "any idiot" so i suppose that may be irrelevant"
only the reason i don't actually play is that it got so boring after like a week, and imagine that's why there aren't just 10 birrion pro players

I think people are missing the fact that the only reason this happened was to make it easier for foreign players to come to the US for a tournament
and why is this a special case then
hell, even EVO still has trouble with that

i feel like a lot of people in this thread don't agree with lol being a sport just because it's lol
no, this has been a stupid idea since its inception way back in the days of unreal tournament

Pretty much, yeah. Even DDR is considered amateur by some communities, though. (It is, kind of. ITG is like three times harder, and Pump it Up is just a massive "forget you".)

not to mention it's actual physical activity lol

I highly doubt it.
Same
I've played upwards of 1500 games and I'm at Silver V
There is a ton to do in League and if you're truly good you almost never do anything wrong.
Dismissing it as a stuffty game is a terrible excuse for completely underestimating the level of complexity and involvement of talent, education, and training.
Also if it isn't your point then don't stress it.

i take it said communities aren't playing DDR on pads. i can play a 9 song on Stepmania with my fingers but......

complexity education training
i couldn't find a suitable laughing gif just stick your favorite over this post in your head

Most don't, but some (r21freak) do. I also met quite a few good DDR players on my last trip to king's island.

It's a shame stressing a point isn't the same as simply replying to someone else, haha.

Idk what to say other than that you don't get it

Perhaps I have overreacted, but you kinda blew off the entire league community

However, it is an obscene hour and I must bugger off to sleep
