Pre-purchased V for PC. I can't wait to play.

As did I. Used a 20% off coupon from GMG. Can't wait to play.

pre ordering is bullstuff.

Steam needs to end preordering. For the good of all that is holy, it'd save them so much headaches.

But if Steam ended pre-ordering... THINK OF THE FEEDBACK
It would stop (most some of...) the Internet bitching about games that aren't as good as they expected they would be.

i preordered so i could get an extra copy of gta sa for nonnel AND get V for myself

it's cheaper

Not having pre-orders would just cause more problems, such as Valve's income slowing down by some percentage, which is more of a bad idea than anything else from a business standpoint

Besides, it's the people's choice to pre-order a game that they have no idea what it's gonna be like or how it will run on their toaster, nothing can be done about that

Let people do what they want, if they think they're pre-ordering a game that's said to be the best thing since sliced bread, but turns out to be wet bread covered in ants, it's their fault for being so hasty to spend their hard earned money

If there was no pre-ordering, the same problem would still exist, the only difference being companies not getting their money faster

If that prevents companies from discovering DLC policies, do you really think it's a problem?

I shouldn't complain, but you do realise that GTA: San Andreas is one of the games that goes on sale the most on Steam?

I got it for free in the process of paying for a game I wanted, you can't really get cheaper than free

I'm not sure if i'm familiar with such "policies", but i'm sure companies care more about themselves than their consumers and would rather get all the monies up-front rather than waiting until release day

I hardly pre-order games, so i don't really care either way, but i'm just saying, being rid of pre-orders would just be an illogical decision on the company's behalf and it wouldn't make a bit of a difference in the grand scheme of things

The only game's i've pre-ordered are Left 4 Dead 2 and Poker Night 2 because i enjoyed the previous game, and Quantum Conundrum because it looked like a fun game, and it was

...Oh yeah, and free TF2 items

Not to start an argument, but that makes the assumption that cost = value. I personally don't think GTA V PC = the selling price of $90-loving-Australian-dollars, and so it seems to me that I would also be paying for SA as part of that.

Just another way to think of it, though. Digital Pricing and Distribution is a very weird field.

I was making a really awful joke based on how EA went from releasing complete, perfect games to utter crap that requires more money than the base game to buy the full experience.

The only companies that want sales pre-release are the retailers, at least in retail stores. The digital market may be different since the money goes directly to the developer with a cut taken by Valve, but generally since the publisher/developer sells their retail copies to retail stores, they've already made a profit.

Also, really the the publisher/dev only want to know about massive sales on Day 1 because that figure gives them a good comparison point to tell if the franchise is marketable and whether to continue investing money into the developers. If we go by Pre-Order sales, because they can be highly staggered and influenced by various trends, there's no way to be sure how excited the market is.

No, but see: if I ordered GTA V late and got nonnel SA separate I would be paying more money, it coming bundled with V means I only have to pay for V and still get SA.

Also no, I like GTA V whether it will run stuff or not, it still looks fun (I got it for £40)
