GTA Online isn't fun if you don't have money
just like real life

leveling strength in a nutshell

Yesterday, while ranking up Strength, I decided to clean the streets of filth, such as this individual here:

Only thing I have left to level now is Lung Capacity. Supposedly the way to do this is to find a dive spot with a ladder, dive in and wait until the bar turns red and then climb up and do it all again until you reach 100.

money is literally the only thing separating me from constant access to a hydra, laser, valkyrie, savage, rhino tank and insurgent

how you dont think money is competitive is questionable at the least
This isn't competition. Competition is fighting in one way or another against other people in hopes of achieving THE end goal. Money is the goal, but not the end goal. I would be an starfish if I cheated on TDM's or Races to gain an advantage, but as I've made clear, I don't do that. I cheat in cash and police games from the real starfishs.

If you couldn't purchase money via shark cards I would disagree with Ceist, however, since there is a way to bypass the grind already,(buying shark cards) cheating is just a method for people who don't want to spend real life money/for broke people, & I don't see any problem with it.
Let's play devils advocate and pretend that shark cards weren't in the game, why would you disagree with me?

I like this picture. But what's wrong, still?
you're trying to justify cheating by putting yourself on a pedestal as the loving god of fairness with your infinite arsenal of money and tanks and fighters jets where you can facerape anybody you want in the name of "fairness" and "removing starfishs" as if you're some sort of actual saint because you cheat

I've already justified my cheating in ways not related to me policing the games.
I've said I have policed games from people who would crash your game, kill you endlessly, or just forget up your day/mood. I don't bother people who use what's in the game to their advantage to try and piss you off. That's just the internet.

Can you honestly say to yourself that you wouldn't like to see someone who's being an starfish have their game ruined for them? I've dealt with people ruining the game for me firsthand and I'm sure you have too.
Since you don't like the fact I cheat, use me as an example. Pretend you have the ability to remove me from the game, would you?

everyone has to grind for their $$ so it's fair.

Pretend you have the ability to remove me from the game, would you?

Pretend that you can read and digest what they are saying, would you?

Yes, but I still see no issue in cheating. If they didn't have shark cards, I think it would be more grounds for cheating in cash, because I like playing the missions and heists, but I don't do it for cash-gain, even if there weren't any cash-cheats I'd still play the game.

Pretend that you can read and digest what they are saying, would you?
I don't even know how to respond to this.

Let's just try and bring this whole argument back a step and go slowly. Before we start, believe me; everybody in this topic knows and agrees that GTA Online is fundamentally broken, and yes, I have in the past cheated my rank and my cash.

The point of playing games is to enjoy your experience, and hopefully even learn/get better at something. Cheating is the antithesis of gaming and is not considered within the spirit of playing, as it allows you to progress through that experience without having to put in the time and skills to prove that you understand the lessons the game is trying to teach.

Every game is focused towards a goal, and the goal of GTA:O is material possession. The reason why the game has such a strong focus on missions, heists and competitive game-modes is so that players can earn rewards that they can then spend on other, more useful goods inside the world. Such goods may be purely cosmetic, such as clothing or cigarettes, while others may offer tactical advantages, such as a minigun, a Hydra, vehicle upgrades to improve performance in races or a business which can be used to churn out more money. RP itself is aimed at breaking up and tiering out when players can access certain "levels" of content; you have to play for a long time to access the best items (you don't just need to grind and amass a big cash pot). Fairness comes through players having to go through the exact same path to achieve the same goals; some players might get lucky and join at the right time when there's a bonus RP/Cash event on that boosts their way, but for most of us, we need to grind out missions to unlock the highest tier content and the currency to purchase it.

What I don't understand is why you believe Shark Cards are any reason to make cheating right. Shark Cards have their place as a way for people of a sufficient rank to quickly afford goods they're interested in without having to spend the next 40 hours grinding Pacific Standard, and it helps Rockstar continue to fund the server costs and keep the game going. Not many people have the expendable currency to constantly buy Shark Cards; only the most dedicated fans would be interested in getting rich quick via your real life wallet, which doesn't help if you don't have the rank unlocks to match. I personally will be buying Shark Cards once my paycheck arrives, as I have interest in filling my car garages up with interesting vehicles, and I've grown tired of grinding missions which simply don't bring in the money fast enough.

And I don't support the notion of "other people hack, and therefore I should stand in and protect you from the bad hackers". I'm tippy-toeing on the borderline of the gun debate here but; simply because Person A does'/has X, does not mean you should be entitled to it out of a sense of protectionism. It is Rockstar's responsibility to handle cheaters and hackers. Yes, their anti-cheat software is particularly broken, but it's still not within the spirit of the game to freely access the content as you see fit simply because the Game Master is doing a poor job. If you're not happy with the experience, walk away.

I'm not hurting anyone with cheating. Apparently you don't understand that, but I don't expect critical thinking from you anymore.

lol

In order to compare vigilante-cheating to gun-control/debate, you need to remember that most of the time we have a vigilante doing something is when the threat occurs in their own back yard. I'm not saying I go from session to session purposefully seeking out wrongful cheaters and then banish them from said session. I join a game and do what I intend to do, which is have a good time by playing missions and doing CEO work. If there happens to be someone abusing their cheats against the other people in the session, I will try to out cheat them and get them to leave, forcefully, or by their own fruition. I do it out of a sense of protectionism because being harassed by cheaters is never fun and makes me want to not play the game ever again, or at least in a public session with other people. It degrades the player-base and causes players to leave.
