300 seems fair.

Nobody can do physics math?  I admit factoring in the fins would be difficult, but the rest seems like it would be nothing more than a basic algebra based physics problem.  Anyone with math sense, a good formula sheet, and scientific calculator can do that.

No pleth.  Look at the formulas.  That's aerospace physics and calculus.  Not to mention that you have to factor in air resistance and content over different altitudes.

Admittedly I wouldn't use those formulas, and the altitude bit is true as well.

Still, I think I could give a pretty good approximation if I calculated distance traveled in a given bracket of altitudes and had some rough numbers to work with as far as air resistance in each bracket, then added the results up.  Wouldn't be perfect, but it could come close-ish.

I'm not claiming to be some kind of Einstein, not even close, but I am saying that it's not all that complicated if you just screw over the calculus and approach it from an algebra based physics perspective.

Aye, but that's assuming you have an initial velocity.  Remember, we're accellerating a MUCH larger mass, with stronger forces at play.  Longbow was supposed to launch at Mach 9.  Modern railguns launch at around Mach 7, however, Erinaum has had railguns for a while, so there might be some room for improvement in that way.  However, this would require a longer barrel, and rails with a larger radius, as well as a huge charge of (as I predict by looking at modern models), 90+ MJ per shot.

I am actually thinking of making the longbow assembly replacable and allow for refitting barrels by varying size, as well as the loading system, which is currently set for 7.5 inch shells, to have varying sizes.  This way, we could potentially fire smaller shells greater distances.

I'm being stupid, remember?

i still think 400-500 is reasonable

Freedom fighters push out of the Caucasus and storm a southern town on the nadeyat'sya river, linking them to Muscovgrad. A bulk of the government forces EU are sent south to besiege the city. Many civilians take arms to fend off the attackers.

This.  I think that the shells with the gliding thing added for upper atmosphere flight allows greater max range increases.  The shell sort of momentum-propelled drone.  300 for such a project seems quite the understatement, but it's a compromise I suppose.

Blazer, do you like the refitting parts idea?

Mikoyan, do I have your permission to send out Yaslovakian infantry and armor to assist you?

Yes but it seems like it would be a hassle to replace them on the field.

It would, but the Longbow is far from a field gun.

True.

So can we settle for an average range of 500 miles, or does anyone else object?

I would say for the kinetic models:

Weight:Caliber:Max Range:
150 kg210 mm700 km
90 kg180 mm800 km
77 kg150 mm840 km
60 kg120 mm880 km
50 kg100 mm915 km
40 kg90 mm930 km
