Working Elevators!

Author Topic: Working Elevators!  (Read 97128 times)

No one is forcing you to read it.  I'd prefer that people only post here with questions about or suggestions for the mod.  I'll post when I have news, but, other than that, there's no reason why people should keep posting here unless what they have to say actually needs to be said.  This is far from a bad and / or pointless topic.  Request denied.

Why are your threads never in Modification Discussion, anyway?

Well, this isn't really a discussion.  It's me showing off my creation, which is the intent of the Gallery.  I can't prevent other players from posting what they want, so I also answer questions related to this creation.  I'm not asking for help, I'm not posting code, I'm just showing off what I'm currently working on.  That to me says this belongs where it is.

Actually, you can prevent them from posting in here; lock it. They're just going to ask ridiculous questions anyways. And it would just make more sense to have your own official thread in the Modification Discussion forum, anyways.

What's the point of having a forum if everyone locks their topics?  I want people to comment on the development of my creations.

1.  I show you something.
2.  You comment / suggest / question.
3.  Repeat.

Modification Discussion is for discussing code, group projects, etc.  This is more of a presentation.  I don't want to discuss how my add-ons are made, when they'll be released, how to do a particular thing in TorqueScript, where I'm finding textures, how I get my models done, etc.  That would be something for Modification Discussion.  This topic is a gallery of my work on the Elevators.  Other people just have the benefit of replying to my posts.

From what I read, it seems like you're saying that no one is asking what you don't want to be heard, yet, pretty much everyone is. And by the looks of this topic, it's pretty much General Modification status, now.

By the way, I never did try to force you into locking it, if you interpreted my post that way.

Well, like I said, that's my intent for this topic.  I'm not going to lock my topics to prevent people from being idiots.  I'll lock the topic when I have nothing else to present about this creation.  If you read through my posts here, you'll see I've pretty consistently brushed off questions that aren't appropriate for this topic.

Anyway, if you have any further issues with the placement of the topic, you can PM the forum administrator.  I'd rather not continue to post here until I have something new to share.

Ah. I have a few questions of my own for this. I haven't read through the several pages, so I'm just going to ask:

1) Is it/will it be possible for the platform to rise only when it's attached to a certain brick?

2) Could you build on it, or would it just be a single brick?

3) E.T.A.?

Each Elevator will require a parent brick.

You will not be able to build on the Elevator.

I don't do ETAs.

can you choose size? (to lazy to read)

Yes, Junior. You can set the size of the elevator.

So, Trader, what's the current status of the JVS Elevators and how long is the To-Do list for it?

Current Status:

Work-In-Progress

To-Do List:

Finish up sliding door functionality.
Create GUIs for interacting with elevator.
Code logic for managing elevator calls (this is the big one).
Code saving / loading.
Organize code, cleanup any messy GUIs.
Test.

You forgot profit lol

No I didn't.  If testing is not successful, I'll have to check through the code again.  Therefore, it is unknown at this time whether profit will immediately follow testing.
