Achievements could work well as an incentive to do positive things for the community though. I don't think they're useless by any means.
Looking at it this way it could inspire people to work more as a community to achieve stuff.
Hm, if it works that way than the community just might get better.

Simple as that - Plant a loving brick
Popular Blockhead- have 15 people on your server at once

We'll have Workshop, Achievements, Trading Cards,
um
Why do you think we'll have any of this? Most greenlit games don't. Sure it's optimist but it's dumb to make a topic using them as your argument,

Blockhead: Never set a name other than Blockhead(bl_id) for a year after installing Blockland.

Badpsot said in his last stream they would like to have Achievements or I think that they may even be required to have one. As for trading cards I believe he mentioned those but I don't remember if they were going to make those or not. Rotondo joked around saying "you place a brick, you win".

Badmin: Perma-ban everyone
Uhh: Discover the dryhump glitch.

I Have Learned Master: Finish the tutorial
Bricks are Best!: Plant 10,000 bricks
Keep on Bricking: Hit the brick-limit
Anti-Blockhead: Get 5 mid air kills
Points for You: Rack up 200 points
My Favorite: Set up some favorite bricks
Style Has Been Saved: Set an avatar as your favorite.
Full Wardrobe: Have all the avatar slots filled
New Addition: Enable an add-on on custom.
Gotta go Fast!: Get the speed-run record on a track in speedkart gamemode.
And the Winner Is!: Win a race in speedkart gamemode.
Fastest in the Land!: Have the record time in all tracks on a speedkart gamemode server.
I trust you!: Give/get some ones build trust
Its Dark in Here!: turn on your light
The New World: Change enviroment settings

Some of those are too easy, if I want to go for an acheivment I want a challange.

Veteran: Plant 2,000,000 bricks

Jesus christ, I can see the achievement farming servers already.

It would actually be good to have some of those "easy" achievements to let the user know what all you can do in the game.

Real-Life Reenactment: Die by stepping on a brick.

Just Getting Started - Change your character outfit.

There's one that is easy for anyone. It's similar to where Sonic Adventure 2 gave you an achievement after you complete the first stage. (either story)

Look mom, I'm famous! - Get your name said 20 times.

This one may be a bit harder as it requires doing hard work to get it.
