Author Topic: Discuss transgender people and what they think. (I identify as a lizard!)  (Read 14399 times)

If you happen to have an identity that's different, just fix it like you would any other phyiscal defect / mental illness.

That's not really what you were asked.
Calling it a 'mental illness' makes you sound really hateful
And I'm curious, what methods do you have in mind of 'fixing it'

I don't understand how Fox's post gave you the impression that he was condoning the transgendered's act
And I don't unrest and why you would have asked what you asked unless you did get that impression

Unfortunatly there's a stigma around mental illness.
I'm pretty sure most people are subject to some form of mental illness in their lives, I didn't mean it as an offensive term.
As for fixing it, a love change is pretty much what I suggested many times, if it turns out that the indivdual can be 'cured' by addressing the mental side of it, then that's fine too.

I think what's happing is that you're going to realize I'm not as much as a hateful biggot as I seemed a few pages ago.
I don't have a problem with people who want to get or have gotten a love change, just a reminder.

The thing about the terms 'mental illness' 'disorder' 'abnormal' etc, is that they only apply when said effect interferes with the persons life in a significant way

As far as love changes go, they're expensive. Not everyone can afford them, and not everyone even wants one. Also sometimes, in the case of minors, parents won't let them go through with it, or as I said earlier, I'm pretty sure you need a psychologist's approval, and I think they'd save it as a last resort

Doesn't it?
I mean, obviously each person is different, but if they're claiming to be a different gender then it must be signifigant to them?

That's just it though.
How do they date?
How do they do anything with deals with love/gender.
They basically have to admit they're trans, which I'm imagine would be painful for them.

The only complication here is people like you that refuse to accept something that professionals and organizations in the field have shown to exist/be a certain way
No, it doesn't at all.
The motive for committing a crime doesn't change a persons guilt at all.
They've committed a crime, and that's it.
A judge or juror or attorney isn't going to say "what the victim did was wrong, lets let this guy off free for his crime"
sorry but if a man tried to stick his snake near me i would have a problem.

It's pretty stuff but yeah that's how it works.  It's never gotten in the way of relationships for me though.

I'm just too awesome to let something like that bother anyone I guess B)
I'm really really lame.

sorry but if a man tried to stick his snake near me i would have a problem.

It's significantly different, but with the exception of people who are unaccepting, they're able to just brush it off and continue doing whatever they're doing just fine
I mean unable to function in society, like being unable to work or something.

That's just it though.

Some people will accept dating trans people
Also I've seen some dating sites with 'trans' as an option under 'I am a' and 'looking for a'

And more to that which you replying to, which I had editted but am going to add in new post since you already replied to that:

Understandable, and you can file loveual harassment if you wanted to.
Bu if you assault them for it, you're going to get in trouble for assault

Enjoy the high school locker rooms pal.
It really isnt like that. Well, at least at my high school it is nothing like that.

Having naked men walking around me if they are taking a shower and changing doesnt bother me.

gender = what youve got in your torso
that's love

gender is your mentality.

We need to stop victimizing the victims by coddling them and instead teach them how to be stronger. Giving people special attention solves nothing.

There would be fewer Self Deletes in the world if people learned to keep information that could be used against them to themselves. If I announced that I my girlfriend was African American and everyone one on /pol/ found out and harassed me, then that is my fault for disclosing information that could hurt me. Basically don't give bullies a reason to come knocking.
by the way lonely white male seeking strong independent dark woman

Remember how I brought up how disagreeing with someone wasn't discriminating them?
Remember how I explained your arguments were ad hominem?
Remember that other stuff we were discussing?

I love how when someone is right you flee the thread.

no, I don't
and what are you talking about?

Lol go tell this stuff to a psychologist or even a sociologist and see what he says
Actually, tomorrow, I'll do it for you; one of my school instructors teaches both, and worked as a clinical psychologist for many years before semi-retiring to teaching the subject
I just asked him and he said exactly, word for word, what i predicted he would say:
"love is biology, gender is psychology"
