My dad asked me if Im afraid of getting hurt

Of course Im afraid of hurting my back anymore. 1 High School Football Game < Rest of my high school sports seasons

He said I "Shouldnt be afraid of getting hurt. If it happens it happens"
Have you been to a doctor about your back recently?
Try and get them to explain the situation.

Your dad is correct about not being afraid of getting hurt. It would be entirely relevant if your fear was getting a graze, or cut or bruise, or even breaking an arm.
But back damage isn't the same. It's not the fear of pain from being hurt, but the fear of the prolonged effects of getting hurt. Cuts and breaks can fix, but damage to the spine can be permanent and severely debilitating.

Your back is obviously incredibly important and it's crucial to take care of it. There's nothing you can do thats worth risking the damage you could do to it, especially if it's already in a tender state at the moment and has had serious injuries.

Let your parents know that you simply don't want to risk a longer and more painful injury in the meantime.
If your back heals and it gets the all clear, then you'll be happy to play again.
But in the meantime, you don't want to put yourself in danger for a single game.
You still support the team and will watch them play, but you don't want to join in for the moment.

Assertively tell them that your back is in no condition for such sports.

Your dad sounds exactly like mine, competitive and hard headed, no offense.

You're making the responsible decision, stick with it. They may get mad, annoyed, whatever, you're the one with the commonsense.

your dad sounds like an starfish

Ultimately, football will end no matter what, but if you keep loving up your back you're going to have to deal with it for the rest of your life.

Tell them to talk to coaches and the physical therapist.

Yeah your father is a prick.
Hope you feel better soon.

tell them your muslim boyfriend is worried you will hurt yourself again and he convinced you to give up.

it will at least take their mind off of football for a bit.

There are procedures to have the herniated part of your disc removed.

I don't know if you can put that on an insurance claim though.

say that going back in the game will cost 10 thousand for injured people

Ive been to a doctor who has sent me to the Physical Therapist

And of course I still support the team. I wouldnt spend $100 and go to every practice even the ones during the summer if I didnt support the team.

They're too ignorant to see that

Thanks. Just needs time to heal.

Haha probably one of the best suggestions.

Yes I think they remove the disc and fuse the spine vertabrae

How do I feel right now? Annoyed by my parents. Regret? Some. Mostly about how I herniated the disc and that I didnt give myself enough healing time.

The physical therapist told me if I wanted to wrestle next year that it would be best not to do football.

I think that the best thing to do as of now is rest as much as you can so you can participate in future games. Many families are big on sports, and it can be important when it comes to getting college scholarships. I hope you feel better soon, get well!
