Author Topic: Changes in YouTube Policy (Content ID Arrmegeddon)  (Read 4699 times)

I thought the whole point of Youtube was to pretty much post so-called "copyrighted" stuff. I mean look at all of the games and movies uploaded on it lol

If they don't need it WHY do so many of them endorse it?
PR
Paid advertising alongside public advertising IS needed. I run a business for a living and I know this.
public advertising such as people talking and magazine/internet articles using specifically-designated media. youtube reviews are not needed, definitely not for an international multi-million, or even multi-billion dollar company

They actually kinda do help, I mean depending on whos doing the Review.
Lets take Totalbiscuit for Example, Most of his videos get above 100,000 Views. If he says a Game is good, That means around 100,000 more people would buy it meaning the company makes a huge profit off of a single 5 minute video someone made.
Really youtube is one of the best sources for advertising considering the fact that about 80% of the people who have internet access use it.

They're not required, but they can really help bring your product to different demographics and wider audiences. Popularity is good for a game, and it doesn't matter where it comes from.

A multi-million dollar company is still going to try making money off of a product, so it's productive to promote reviews and gameplay videos showing off your product.

if they needed it, or even wanted it, they would leave the videos

if they needed it, or even wanted it, they would leave the videos

It's google doing this, not the game companies / publishers

Why does it feel like Ikes point went COMPLETELY over your head?

If they ARE endorsing it then they want it.

Quote
Youtube is automatically filing copyright claims that some of them didn't even know about.

As to quote something earlier. Not every company is going onto youtube to file copyright claims intentionally

Google is doing it through youtube

I already mentioned this twice
youtube is bad for trying to make it easier on them? this way they don't get complaints from the companies, the problem is prevented before that needs to happen
that's only what youtube does, it's barely related to the companies who hold the copyrights. but I don't care that they do it because it's just a shortcut for them, and certainly they won't care as long as you're not getting money from the ads, just like it's always been with them

this entire situation is stupid. these sort of rules existed on youtube before. the only reason they're doing this is because people aren't following the rules, so they have to make them more strict

I'm expecting a video from Nerdcubed about this to pop up into my sub box any minute now

Except they are violating the FAIR USE law. Why are you trying to defend them so much. They are stepping out of bounds in regards to this. The reason why they are getting so much backlash to begin with.

haha no, they're not violating anything. they can remove any videos they want, even without any reason at all, because it's their website. you don't even pay to use it. and they wouldn't have to "step out of bounds" if people would follow their rules in the first place

haha no, they're not violating anything.

A LOT of the videos put out fall under this. I'm not even talking about the people who go and upload full movies illegally. They should be focusing on those people, but they barely make an effort to do it.

This copywrite policy is punishing EVERYONE and not focusing on those who are actually breaking the law. Are you done talking out of your ass?

fair use is a defense. if someone requires you to take something down that you uploaded, because of copyright infringement, you can use fair use as a defense and possibly be allowed to keep it up. however you can NOT use it as a defense if you were making money off of the video. and if youtube wants to remove a video of yours for any reason AT ALL, they can do it, they don't have to abide by any laws, because you uploaded a video on THEIR website
so
