Author Topic: Changes in YouTube Policy (Content ID Arrmegeddon)  (Read 4686 times)

Night fox, why are you even supporting this? do you want all of the comedic videos about gaming to be wiped from existence. do you want ever review people ever use to judge if a game is for them to be removed? do you want every tutorial for how to set up stuff for a game to be removed? think about it. If you played for example, Team fortress 2. and were trying to set up a server for it but NOPE all video tutorials are removed because they are related to video games. would you really still be saying "hey yeah this is a good thing google keep it up"?

Seriously? Like the copyright rules weren't already strict

gj google you are a piece of stuff

"Websites can abuse, harass, or threaten its users lives but that's okay and legal because it's their website."
Is like what you're saying.
Irl: "I shot this guy because he looked at me on my property, but that's okay and legal because it my property."
Stop
um. no. those things are illegal anyway, or at the very least immoral. but there is nothing wrong with what they're doing

why am I supporting youtube trying to give companies their rights?
the answer to all of your other questions is, if they were making money off of it and the company didn't want them to, yes

Stop
Someone get that badspot quote

They aren't Giving them their rights, most companies don't really care about it because they realize it gives them profit but google is FORCING the videos to be copyrighted on their own.

Except the Money isn't coming out of the companies pocket, its coming out of Youtubes. and besides, Im sure a Youtuber only gets about a dollar or 2 per viewer whereas a company gets up to 70 dollars off of one person purchasing the game. I really don't see how 1 dollar out of 70 is that big of a deal.

Okay, you have no idea what you're talking about. Go back to the first post and read about what's going on.

This doesn't involve companies trying to take down gameplay footage. A lot of companies aren't even aware of this.

I already know what it is
I already mentioned this twice

it doesn't matter what you think tbh. it's the law. I'm sure you'd be upset if someone told you that you couldn't have some of your rights

But according to you, its mostly big companies, why would they care if someone was making a tiny bit of profit off of commenting on something and driving in sales unintentionally?

I hope 4chan does youtube research day again.

It's a good thing I'm hoping to go into actual film-making and not YouTube stuff
holy what so am I

Wait. No more gaming channels basically?
This is exactly what I thought of.

Night you're completely ignoring the main issue here. It isn't about YouTube trying to "protect their asses", it's about how terrible the Content ID system is now and how users with full permission from major companies are still being flagged. Here's the most comprehensive article I've read:

http://venturebeat.com/2013/12/11/youtube-ignores-content-creator-concerns-in-statement-regarding-mass-copyright-flagging/

"While it’s nice of YouTube to let its users in on what is happening, the statement fails to address what its community is actually worried about, which is the fact that Content ID is flagging games that uploaders have full permission to make videos of

Many of the publishers that own the copyrights to games that Content ID is flagging have come out to confirm that they give full legal approval to anyone posting videos of their games online. That’s not stopping titles like Deep Silver’s Metro: Last Light from getting flagged for content owned by an unknown gaming website called “4GamerMovie.” This has left content creators scratching their heads and looking for answers, and YouTube isn’t acknowledging the problem."
