Same's happening with my friend, he's refusing to watch videos on learning smokes, flashes, and other tricks, saying he wants to "find them out himself" and proceeds to lose almost every clash that he's in.
To be fair, you can learn some pretty neat smokes through trial and error.
I played around on Inferno and learned how to smoke off banana from arches, for instances. I've never seen anyone use it before. It has questionable purpose but still. Kinda neat.
