You can turn off music, it's simply just a backup for those that do want it
yeah I know, just saying what I think.

I have a friend who has a way to put an entire song into BL.
This is a bad idea..

The current major flaws:
There is not a lot of direction nor a finite goal
Iban's original City RPG is just a DM with a price tag in a city environment with a lot of unarmed people
A lot of the builds aren't really cities at all, but shanty-towns and canyon areas
It's not a very rewarding system: work, eat, upgrade, repeat.
Some people become stupidly rich and it throws off everything
And there's always poor balance in terms of other jobs (I'm referring to 80%+ of the server population being cops/mafia, mostly due to high income/action)
It's monotonous. You cut trees for 3 hours for enough cash for a basic kindergarten level education and a $38 meal called "red brix"?

Just to name a few

Answers in respective order:
You work for the next job, which pays for better cars and goodies to use later on, giving what you do a purpose
If you treat CityMod like a DM, you'll have a SWAT team rain down on your ass and lock you up long enough to warrant you having to reset your account.
See the map section of the topic OP
It will never be truely rewarding, all we can hope to be able to do is create some kind of spendature that people would be willing to partake in (example, go to the movies to improve work ethic, I.e. Client works more effectively, etc)
There is a hard limit that exhists and money is finite. Sure you can own a majority of the server's money, but if it doesn't flow the economy tanks and people will hunt you down for it
All jobs balance out, being a criminal is a riskier job therefor cops aren't as necessary
You cut trees for three hours, your boss pays you money and he supplies that wood to a factory owner who makes bricks out of that wood, and then people build with said bricks. You need little people to fuel the big stuff. If you work hard, you get paid more and maybe your boss will give you a raise or better gear (ex, give you a chainsaw to replace your axe, pickaxe to replace a shovel, etc)

Vaux may have something else to say in terms of all of this but that's all just my take on it
Yeah, last night I was summing up the problems of CityRPG's and how they were/are fixed in CityMod then I got distracted by something else and forgot to finish and post it lol.  But Adin pretty much summed it up. =)

This looks amazing, I can't wait!

Here's something to note, though.

How many people will be running "the big stuff"?

A. It's not like there will always be people managing the big stuff.

B. It's not like there will always be people who WANT to manage the big stuff.

I think that certain aspects need to be automated.

Anyone can run a company. It's simply just evaluating what you want to do.
It's hard to explain this specific scenario because you're right, there won't be a lot. It'll be the 1%.
But that 1% runs the government with the amount of money they pay through taxes.

And to answer B, I beg to differ: I want to manage that. I know 2 other admins who want to.
I like being a CEO. It's fun. It's hugely profitable. And after all the pushing and hard work it's easy money.

Hopefully today I can get some of the first images out to show you guys what the city will look like. My dad has been on my computer for the past 7 hours or so I haven't been on today.

We don't have enough buildings to give a true "city" feeling but we have a healthy ammount of content for ambient effects and some interior shots

Quick, post pictures while everyone has forgotten about CityMOD!

Included: Bank, Streets, Sewers, Bloopers

What the forget is that sewer

What the forget is that sewer
well you know
a lot of blockheads have uncontrollable brown town leakage.

Really? Thank goodness! I thought it was just me!

What the forget is that sewer
Ah the sewer, I guess that would be something to talk about.
The sewers will not be under the map. This creates complications of size, detail, too many bricks in one spot, etc. so rather it will be a different "area." You will teleport I to them, and they will not be to the same layout as the roads, mostly because I don't wanna copy that layout, but also because it's more fun. There will be a lot of exits and entrances, even some enters le teleport pipes (think Mario.)
The sewers are large. It's a city, they have to be able to handle a lot of sewage.
That said, there is excess room, almost enough to fit a helicopter (hmm)
There will be underground lots
There will be cave attachments to it
Maybe if Vaux loves me enough mutalids (doubt it, probably too irrelevant, but let's be honest, "monster hunter" is a loving awesome job, especially with a Sword-Axe)
The only problem I have with the sewers is that there are a LOT of cross-support beams. That will be fixed by either large beams, or just fewer.

Also worth noting, that's a custom brick pack: squideey's with blank side and ramp textures.

I have a question about the 2,000,000$ hard limit. What happens when you have 50 blockheads with the new steam release join every day, make a couple hundred blocko-dollars, get bored, and never return? Other then my concern for that I'm excited to see where this server is going.

If there is no fix perhaps you could have a "Player hasn't joined in so long, data reset, and money returned" function?

Brian and I have officially made it officially official.  A simple application form would need to be submitted for you to be whitelisted on the server.  This would prevent a problem like you said, and would weed out most of those nuisance players.

But if a problem like that ever did occur, we could just reset their accounts which would add their money back to the Gov's funds.

Downside to this
A lot less blue collar jobs
Aka fewer laborers
