THE NON-PLAYABLE FACTION LIST
-
Vatican City (striped)
Keep good ties with the Pope to ensure the longevity of your faction. If you have enough favor with the Pope, you can call a Crusade* against another faction or even vote to excommunicate other factions. A Crusade calls to arms all other nations of Christian faith against a common foe regardless of preexisting tensions and wars.
Crusades don't require the participation of nations in combat, just that they accept the call to war.
Joining in on a Crusade will boost the favor with the Pope, morale of troops, and technology acquirement. However, joining in on a Crusade will also drastically hurt relations with the opposing nation and strain your food surpluses; halting expansion.
*While Christians have Crusades, the Muslims have Jihads which can be called forth (much less effectively) by experienced generals [minimum of 3 battles won]
UPDATE: Crusades cannot be called on nations that the Pope favors more or equally to the caller
Jihads, on the other hand, can be called upon whenever on whoever (including the Vatican)
-
Mongols (some kinda pink idk)
Boasting the strongest cavalry in the entire world, the Golden Horde is not to be trifled with. Make sure to reinforce your eastern front to ensure that you can at least withstand the Horde's might. The quickest way to losing your empire is to let the Mongols in.
-
The Timurids (mauve)
A Persian dynasty formed by a subordinate of Genghis Khan. Akin to their Asian brethren, you don't wanna forgetin mess with these guys.
-
Rebels (white tiles)
Remnants from the uncivilized and barbaric. Exist solely to slow down expansion and limit military pile-ups as well as improve management and diplomacy between civilized nations.
-
Moroccans (mint)
Hailing from the ashes of the Moorish empire, the Moroccans are a peaceful bunch who excel in areas of both trade and exploration. Being a Christian nation, they hold dearly the faith of their lord and will fight their absolute hardest in times of war due to religious fanaticism.
-
Ethiopians (pink)
Peaceful Christian nation who stop at nothing to defend their homeland. Whether their enemy be Christian or Muslim, they will repel all who attempt an invasion.
-
Songhai (teal)
Being one of the largest Islamic empires in the world, the Songhai are not afraid to suppress any heretics.
-
The Zulus (lilac)
Warmongering terror of the south. As their Christian beliefs would have it, they'll force the world into a Second Dark Age.
-
Japanese (salmon)
Still a nation divided in their Sengoku era, the Japanese are not open to foreign trade.
-
Chinese (mustard)
Economic powerhouse who will defend their interests as much as they can.
-
Indonesians (navy blue)
does anyone even really care about the indonesians?
-
Koreans (almost salmon)
A nation soon divided, the Koreans are scientifically-inclined.
-
Turkmenistan (purple-y blue)
Founded to oppose the doctrine of the Timurids, this nation is radically communist.
-
Afghanistan (lighter mustard)
Rough terrain and sneaky insurgent tactics makes conquest and travel extremely difficult in this country.
-
Pakistan (olive)
Very advanced and civil nation in comparison to its neighbors.
-
The Republic of Texas (foresty green)
Formed by seceded land of Spain and surrounding territory, this republic has reinforced its frontline defenses ten-fold.
