Author Topic: What Remains - Open World Zombie Survival PvP [Open Beta] [Pics Pg.13]  (Read 25451 times)

Why would one event it when it can be scripted in 2 seconds...
Anyway I'm pretty sure there's going to be 1 MAJOR city with other smalls cities and towns around.

I had an idea while loving around on Legodude's server -

it'd be pretty cool if, in the two main towns or whatever on the map, you had two transmission-reception stations connected by a long wire - either in morse, or in binary - wouldn't be too hard to event, and could make for some fun roleplay
no roleplay no

no roleplay no
This

Apocalypse survival and apocalypse survival role play are VERY different, and do NOT belong together. No, you're not some 12 year old kid I wanna adopt because your parents are dead, no we can't have a dog, forget off I'm not giving you my rations

On another note, what's progress looking like for this project? There were some bricks released recently of kitchen stuff that looks a little better

in that case, forget the roleplay part, just make it so that you can find a bunch of (immobile) radio stations across the map which you can use to communicate with people at the other stations

since the server has local chat I could see this being useful

You're still missing the point. That is roleplay no matter what you do. Why would you use morse code to communicate to the other side of the map? That would make no sense. You've got a rifle, a pistol, some ammo and some rations, nothing else. Now you're going to hold up in one spot for a huge span of time, focus entirely on a button, hope someone is on the receiving end, and then communicate.

the other big point is, why would two people communicate like that? It's not reliable. If it was like two forts, and we were talking about 2 groups of 10 communicating: yes, yes those NEED a way to communicate. But this is survival. You won't GET two groups of 10. You'll get a group of 3 and a group of 5 at most, and then a bandit surprises one group and boom, everything is lost

When is this expected to be finished? I can't wait to play.

the morse part was just for the roleplay idea, but I guess you're right yet again

okay, final idea, and this is probably an addon that already exists - among the many items that can be found, have some walkie-talkies that you can set a frequency for - meet up with another player, agree with a frequency, coordinate

Why not just use an external program for communication.
This isn't exactly the most roleplay type gamemode.

imo simply using an external program removes the purpose of having local chat to begin with but w/e

what hunger mod is being used?

Yeah because telling people to use said program is easy in-game c:

I wanna go off of this point-
skype
facebook
text
facebook
Google+
teamspeak

I know there are other means of communication but those are namely the ones I personally use for this kinda stuff.

I like using Teamspeak more than Skype, as Skype tends to eat a lot of resources, while Teamspeak is basically made for gaming.

we finally got the buildings from Sylvanor lol...

I guess it's not dead? We shall CONTINUE!
