Author Topic: So why do you hate life?  (Read 7718 times)

I don't like life sometimes because we are born to die, like what the hell.
You're born to reproduce and then die.

I don't like life sometimes because we are born to die, like what the hell.

Oh no you aren't.  You were born to make a difference!

Why would I hate life? Well there are small things, but in the big picture it's pretty freaking awesome when you think about it

We live in a world where everyone will lie about anything with no second thoughts. Lying has become second nature with people so it is impossible to trust anybody.
I always have second thoughts. I've never been a good liar. Me sperg.
Honestly, Valve made a good statement about life through Cave Johnson.  "When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade.  Make life take the lemons back!"  That being said, don't let life and it's so-called options tie you down.  If it's pressure from family to go into certain fields in which you are not interested, then to hell with it.  "You're going to be a doctor," "You're going to be a Lawyer," "You're going to be an engineer…" forget that.  They're not the ones to decide your future– and only you can do that.  Several people have said that trust is weakness, and to some point, it really is.  The fact is that you are the only person to change who you are, and letting people do that is believing that you are meant to be something other than what you want to do.  I think there is more merit to building yourself up from square one into the person you want to be, than allowing others to place you where you don't have to be, and swollowing life grudgingly.
I wish I had the self-confidence to follow this philosophy.
Also, Cave went and made Lemon 'nades.
life is great
most people are awful
eh, some are. I dunno about "most", but a lot are.
I have only one reason to hate life; people

People are scum. We wage war over disagreements, we claim land in the name of profit and the 'future,' some turn to religion for an escape and, in turn, force it upon others (see; "we can't have gays cause god doesn't like gays!" argument), we lie and cheat and steal to better ourselves, rather than others.

We will never, ever be a perfect society. We will always be tribal, we will always be loveist, there will always be rape, hate crimes, Flash Mob and genocide. Not because we are flawed (though true) but because we as a species have evolved into sentience and a higher intellect than most. Because if Lion's could learn to use a .306 rifle to hunt for Gazelles, there would be no more gazelles.

But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe one day, humanity will see past what's in your pants, or if you're 200% real brother, or where you live.

But until then, we're a bunch of nationalistic, loveist, tribal, opinionated pricks, most of whom keep it internal, and the few brave (often stupid) souls leave it external.
Some of us try to look past those things. Sometimes we succeed. Sometimes we fail. Sometimes everyone fails. But we still tried.
I don't hate life. In fact I rejoice, because I know that the only reason any of us are still alive is by God's grace, and I know I have eternal life thanks to Jesus Christ.

Many of you in this thread express how displeased you are with this world, how terrible and unpleasant it is. That's because we live in a fallen world; it's called sin, and it was our choice to disobey God and this is the consequence of our actions.

For those of you who look at this and laugh; no, I am not joking. I believe this with all my heart, and I will follow Christ for the rest of my life.

I doubt this for a few reasons which I will not bother discussing here. In the meantime, however, I wonder how much your "choice" to follow Christ was upbringing, doing it because those before you did, and how much of it was based on rational, unbiased thought.
I hate hearing about how people gave up on humanity because they don't like what they hear. Sure the world is full of ignorance, stupidity, selfishness, and people who we don't agree with, but the world is full of compassionate people, intellectuals, samaritans.

Even though the world is full of suffering, that doesn't mean we can work to make something better or find a place that makes us happy.
We can try, I suppose.

Half life 3 confirmed.

being socially inept is like going through life on hard mode.

Why was this necessary

It's all about leaving your legacy behind, being known for stuff really is the only way to become "immortal"

A friend of mine once told me "Trust is a weakness"
That's the tagline for a game called Uplink, and I believe in it.

While I have been brought up in a protestant Christian family, I have many relatives who are not Christians. As far as I know, my cousin Jackie and her husband are both nonbelievers. My uncle Tommy is a staunch Atheist, my own sister doesn't care about anything to do with religion.

I genuinely tell you I am not a Christian "because it's tradition/family". I've taken a good look around at the other religions in the world and come to realize that Christianity:

  • Makes more sense than any other religion and "all adds up" in the end
  • Has the most positive outlook and message compared to all other religions and Science as well (how hopeful does the message that we all rose out of some mud hole millions/billions of years ago and that we are really nothing more than advanced monkeys sound to you?)
  • Answers all of life's major questions (and more) coherently and rationally
  • Has far more joyful followers than any other religion, another thing that proves Christ's superiority
  • Is the only religion capable of making ANYONE uncomfortable, moreso than any other religion
  • Is self-evident as being true, and the only religion in which its prophecies have always proven correct

The experiences I've had over the countless years of being on the internet and my own real-life experiences have further affirmed me that Christianity is absolutely true and that I can trust it. Almost all other religions make competing claims that they are the true religion but when you examine what they are really like, they crumble and fall apart.

I've never found myself facing more opposition and hatred than since I decided I wanted to follow Christ of my own free will. I've been called family man, bigot, close-minded, tribal, unaccepting, hypocrite, handicap, ethnocentric, crazy, backwards, politically incorrect, redneck, misguided, hateful, bible-thumper, loud-mouthed, jesus-freak, and many other nasty things. Sometimes, users who see me talking about Christ think i'm joking/trolling and they find it very hard to believe that I could possibly believe the things that I say, or that I take religion seriously. But I truly tell you I absolutely believe God is real, and that He is my creator and my savior.

Anyways, hope that helps give a better understanding; that's what I have to say. And I'm gonna leave it at that.

Planr, just sayin', it wasn't worth it responding to Bill. Unless I've misjudged the post's tone, he was mocking you for your beliefs.

(how hopeful does the message that we all rose out of some mud hole millions/billions of years ago and that we are really nothing more than advanced monkeys sound to you?)
Generally people who "accept science" don't need some inherent "hopefulness" in the existence of the human race. That's why I'm of the belief that most people flock to religion out of some sort of inner conflict, be that insecurity or anything else. I don't need a metaphorical father figure telling me it's all going to be O.K, I'm pretty at peace with existence.

This is actually a good point. I really don't hate life, I just hate other people.
I can agree. Life is pretty cool, but i just hate people.

I don't haha guess I'm mostly past the "puberty stage"
but yea I know it's still rough sometimes

I respect planr's decision to be a christian and all but the fact that he just said "advanced monkeys" suggests he doesn't actually understand evolution. :/
