I doubt this for a few reasons which I will not bother discussing here. In the meantime, however, I wonder how much your "choice" to follow Christ was upbringing, doing it because those before you did, and how much of it was based on rational, unbiased thought.
While I have been brought up in a protestant Christian family, I have many relatives who are not Christians. As far as I know, my cousin Jackie and her husband are both nonbelievers. My uncle Tommy is a staunch Atheist, my own sister doesn't care about anything to do with religion.
I genuinely tell you I am not a Christian "because it's tradition/family". I've taken a good look around at the other religions in the world and come to realize that Christianity:
- Makes more sense than any other religion and "all adds up" in the end
- Has the most positive outlook and message compared to all other religions and Science as well (how hopeful does the message that we all rose out of some mud hole millions/billions of years ago and that we are really nothing more than advanced monkeys sound to you?)
- Answers all of life's major questions (and more) coherently and rationally
- Has far more joyful followers than any other religion, another thing that proves Christ's superiority
- Is the only religion capable of making ANYONE uncomfortable, moreso than any other religion
- Is self-evident as being true, and the only religion in which its prophecies have always proven correct
The experiences I've had over the countless years of being on the internet and my own real-life experiences have further affirmed me that Christianity is absolutely true and that I can trust it. Almost all other religions make competing claims that they are the true religion but when you examine what they are really like, they crumble and fall apart.
I've never found myself facing more opposition and hatred than since I decided I wanted to follow Christ of my own free will. I've been called family man, bigot, close-minded, tribal, unaccepting, hypocrite, handicap, ethnocentric, crazy, backwards, politically incorrect, redneck, misguided, hateful, bible-thumper, loud-mouthed, jesus-freak, and many other nasty things. Sometimes, users who see me talking about Christ think i'm joking/trolling and they find it very hard to believe that I could possibly believe the things that I say, or that I take religion seriously. But I truly tell you I absolutely believe God is real, and that He is my creator and my savior.
Anyways, hope that helps give a better understanding; that's what I have to say. And I'm gonna leave it at that.
