just because its my right to go around calling people forgetheads doesnt mean i should
i hate the fact that whenever someone mentions gun control the first thing that comes to mind is "obamar is takin our guns!!!!"
anyone with common sense knows that this is not true
Better throw away that smartphone.
Better not go out to eat at a restaurant.
Better not mow my lawn.
Just because I have the right to do these things doesn't mean I should...
The right to do something doesn't necessarily mean you should do it; you're right about that. But it doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't either. After all, the right exists for some reason; your place is to simply exercise that right properly. As it is not against the law to own an AR15, and a civilian buys one with the intention of storing it in their room until someone breaks into their house, is it really a problem? Of course, your argument might be that they should choose a different gun - and to an extent, you may be right. They may not know what they're doing when purchasing a gun; they may just be going overboard. Maybe they should've gotten a 9mm or a shotgun - but a gun is a gun, and their intent with the gun is the same, regardless of the make and model. Just make sure you don't break into their house and you'll be ok.
What would be better than banning firearms altogether would simply be to help instruct citizens on how to properly use and care for their firearms so there aren't as many accidents.
