Author Topic: Apparently Watch Dog Megathread  (Read 6041 times)

I am still very interested in Watch Dogs and won't let this 'unexpected' ''''''''''drop'''''''''' in graphical quality in trailers stop me from being interested.
It's also good to see other people becoming known and interested with/in this game.

You're making the assumption that graphics are the only problem.

More than 50% of the original game was cut to afford them time to fix bugs, and that hasn't helped much. The Gamescom Live Demo (seen at E3 and a number of other PR events years ago) and all their gameplay trailers since were faked, at least to the point of highly polishing that one section and being very careful and restrictive in what you see.

If Ubi can pull it off an fix it in time, hats off to them, but I already traded my preorder. Methinks this is going to be like Battlefield 4, but with far less support or communication.

BTW, they've already planned 3 DLC missions. Who the forget thinks about additional content before finish building the main game?

It was my response to those questioning that in this topic, which is also, by pure coincidence, the topic title.
You make valid points, though i wonder where you got the first part of the information.
Just putting it out there that I worked Ubi PR for an event involving Watch_Dogs, and I have my contacts. They cut a stuff-ton of content. Also, that delay for the game? Unplanned. Very fortunate though, because the game makes Aliens: Colonial Marines look stable.
My main concerns about your validity is your age and location making me sincerely doubt that you would have much information about it.
Claiming you have sources can of course be done by everyone.
But then again the rest of your forum history here (which is all i got to validate you and your claims) doesn't seem to counter act with your apparent interest in the game development.
So really, i am not sure, but anyway, making games is cutting in features in the end.
Not all features they think of will always make the game in the end.
Especially not if there is a strict deadline.

Now i am not here to think of excuses for them, or just in general, white knight them.
The fact that i haven't preordered it yet has a reason, i still want to be sure of things, after my purchase of GTA IV for the PC i would love to prevent myself from buying something that i don't really enjoy that much...
But so far, it still seems like a good game for me and therefor i am still waiting anxiously for the release (and the reviews).

Thanks for your input anyway.

People working at Ubi Kiev and Montreal. Although I can't back it up, they also let me know about AC: Unity and the state of The Crew long before I saw for myself, so I have a high amount of trust for them.

Australia has its own PR events. Stuff like PAX Aus, Supanova, EB Expo and more. Granted, not as large, but we're still a pretty large market that any major publisher would want to dominate. As far as age, there were PR agents about 15yo to 50yos. As far as Ubisoft PR is concerned, they just want a broad range to try and connect to as many age groups as possible.

That's a whole debate I won't get into, but my main argument is that it doesn't, and shouldn't, have to be that way, at least if the problem is time constraints. If an idea is badly executed, it's probably better cut, but I still hold the opinion companies should try push for as much time as they need to build the best game possible.

I completely understand your position and I too wish and hope that what I saw and heard is all false, or Ubisoft grabbed the reigns and dramatically changed their stance. Watch_Dogs is one of the coolest AAA titles I know coming out this year, so it's a massive shame to hear about the problems it has face.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but we'll have to wait and see.

Because they upped the quality of the first stuff inengine
And then when they come out with actual engine footage it looks stuffty
sorta like with portal 2 but portal 2 was still amazing

I had high expectations for this game, however, I am still going to buy it even though Ubisoft really disappointed me. I don't know, I think I am just going to ask for money and then watch Youtube videos.

Or preorder, I don't know.

????
I don't really care too much about the graphics.

Well according to some other user, some of the gameplay got cut.

See, I don't know what the forget that means. Does that mean they cut out a mechanic, like shooting; or did they cut out a few missions?

Seriously this, because as I recall seeing, there's nothing I noticed that could have been cut.

I think it was gameplay time, I don't really know lol.

I'm still getting it though.

Hope i didn't annoy you or anything by saying what i did, but thanks for the explanation, that clears up a lot.
I am just a bit careful with people claiming they know something that is wrong with the game, some people just do that to troll and/or because they hate the game and end up lying to ward off people who actually like it.
We will have to see indeed i suppose.

Absolutely not, this isn't Tumblr after all :P

Entire missions (we're talking 5-15 hours of content), vehicles, weapons, sections of the map and some gameplay mechanics (not critical to the core gameplay experience) I'm not allowed to discuss (NDA).
