have you had any crashes? I might install it and try it if

I've used it for about 4-5 hours and only got a freeze once while I was tweaking some Unity settings, which stopped after a few seconds after which everything worked fine again.

I use Backtrack R5.

That happened to me with the last LTS release. You have an old nvidia graphics card right? You have to boot into recovery mode and do "sudo apt-get install nvidia" or something like that. I don't know if you need a specific driver or something for yours.

I have a gtx 770 and it does that on grub so rip

Tried Cinammon once when I was using Linux Mint, and it was okay, if a little limited in how I could tweak it without diving into settings. Though I'm not a fan of Gnome, either. XFCE is usually my go-to, considering the computers I install Linux on are supposed to be as streamlined and fast as possible on minimal hardware.

I miss using Linux, but my only current installation is on a laptop whose battery is completely dead.

i hate that gnome is ignoring the fact i want my windows buttons on the left and not the right

it's odd though, mutter isn't ignoring it. i know GS uses mutter for a window manager.

is there a changelog of any of the new stuff/changes in ubuntu 14.04?

Xfce allows you to choose which side they are on, depending on the theme you choose for your window frames. You can easily make it look and work like gnome too.

Okay, I really don't get this. I keep coming across websites that have these "Apt urls", which I assume are supposed to do some sort of automatic apt-get. However, over my attempts on three different Linux distros, I have never been able to open these links by default. Firefox just pops up this window prompting to choose a program to open the link with. I don't understand how I set up firefox to use these links.

Which distro are you currently on?
