Even if no more problems with the home-hosting happen, would you pay $4.00/month if HammerHost was still run at home?

Yes, home hosting will stabilize and become more reliable
No, I feel comfortable only with a remote dedicated server

I honestly still can't believe you still think a residential connection is more reliable than server hosting.
I don't get how you gibbering imbeciles in this topic think that either loving alternative will offer more reliability IN THE FACE OF A DDOS ATTACK

forget you guys for being whiney starfishs.

Hammer, why are you still supporting this ungrateful community?

Right. What would you players prefer: a few small outages here and there (99% uptime) or 0% uptime? Because if I stuck with Server mania or used We love servers, I would be toast. You should be grateful that the hosting service did not sink, and it's a free hosting service anyway.

It's too late, I spent 6 weeks programming a hosting service. I went through all the trouble of last month. It's not worthwhile for me to just quit the game and stop contributing. I feel I deserve some kind of recognition for my struggles with the hosting service, and I have not gained enough reputation out of HammerHost yet.

The real cause was a malicious DDoS attack. Fortunately, Verizon actually mitigated the attack at their own expense. They did not reveal the size or number of IP addresses, but it was UDP-based. Verizon went above and beyond their responsibility by providing free DDoS protection for 10 days, until the hacker gave up.

How'd you find out? Did you get a letter?

I'm really glad for this service, personally. My KOTH server should be finished very soon; the map is pretty much done, I just need to add the spawn rooms.

People seriously need to stop badmouthing this service. Liker seriously. Hammereditor has had some pretty big issues, but he's handled all of them pretty well. :/

They weren't mitigating it if your service was still unavailable, they may as well have just done nothing.

Erm, if the attack was mitigated you wouldn't have noticed any slow downs or anything. They just didn't null route you, probably because on a real world scale it was a very small attack, and did nothing at all about the attack.

Yes, the ISP sent an e-mail.

The ISP initially did not mitigate, but they did at the end. They stated that in the e-mail.

very small attack, and did nothing at all about the attack.
The ISP said they did. Their method of defense could have increased the ping greatly, as a side effect.

Because an ISP would never tell you lies!!

or simply that the attack was much longer but the isp stopped it like halfway through?

I like this service and I hope it never goes away. :c

I agree with this. I've been getting a bird's eye view (no pun intended) of the topic and it's problems and Hammereditor is doing a good job. I would probably use his service if I could

Right now there are 6 players waiting for an account:
• Color
• Killer1258
• Deve
• Skig
• TeeOS
• Toxicology
I will admit you all on exactly June 2. I am posting this so that you know I did not forget about you.

For the past 2 months, whenever I register a new client, they sometimes complain about add-ons being disabled and the add-on list not working properly. I used to tell them to remove the syntax errors in their add-on and music-on file names. But today, I decided enough is enough, and added some code to HammerHost's control panel server program, which automatically detects illegal add-on names and corrects them.

Code: [Select]
(inside gamemode.txt)

ADDON System_HammerHost

and...

"Error occured while the c-panel server tried to connect to the System_HammerHost add-on, to listen to the chat."

this has been happening for a while. does your hammerhost addon even work when in a gamemode other than custom?
