Pretty sure you can't refill a room while it is exposed to vacuum, at least not with the base level O2 system.  Engine room is breached and the door between the engine room and weapons room was forced open by the drone.  Anyway like 2 seconds after I took that pic both guys died because they were stunned in the oxygen free room.
After a few seconds the door could be closed again. You can tell by a slight difference in how wide open it is. That one looks like it could be closed.

But yeah being stuck in a deathtrap room sucks. Worst is when your medbay gets hacked. Usually certain death for anyone inside.

Yes.  The first time I encountered one was in an asteroid field... *thousand yard stare*

And that is the reason why I never keep anyone in my medibay.
And yes, breached doors repair after a while, if you have a powerful enough oxygen system (I think 2 bars but it might take 3) You can keep even vaccumed rooms as oxygenized enough so that no damage takes place. (Your ships total oxygen will not increase but will stay constant.) Just make sure you open the doors to other rooms for them to vent.

Also the FLAK 2 is a must have item if you plan on getting anywhere, it completely stuffs on shield systems and basically gives you an opening to rape enemy ships.
Also if your door control has at least one bar you will be able to control doors, even if a door is smashed open it will eventually heal itself.

Again though, hacking hardware is your friend, top priority hardware to have because it can stop most anything from stuffting on your ship in annoying bullstuff ways. (Infact, if the enemy using an Anti-drone EMP defensive drone, this will only temporarily disable your hacking drone, it can still reacquire power and hit the targeted system after a minute or so.)

I'll be honest here though, despite my heavy veterancy with this game (everything unlocked, beaten the game once with each ship design.) I have yet to survive an instance where one of those breach ion drones hits my ship and wrecks everything. I've only encountered them twice however, but they still destroy me each time. I'm assuming this is what anti-drones are for, as well as the defensive drone for your ship's interior; but oh lord these stupid buggers are annoying.

The game is unfair because space is ruthless and unforgiving. That's the point of the game. The feeling of abandonment and self-reliance. I think.

FTL is at heart a strategy game more than just your typical rougelike; and although the RND can get a tad tiresome, the game makes up for it by the amount of customization and potential options towards solving problems and ship development. The main strategic component is being prepared for any situation; that is what FTL is about.

Or its a game designed to be addicting while at the same time rage inducing so that more people buy it and angrily play it as opposed to other games. Either way, genius and well made.

I dislike games that remove your options arbitrarily. I dislike FTL for this very reason. Taking damage should be its own punishment - especially in a roguelike where you need to play efficiently. Removing your options along with dealing damage is unnecessarily harsh. For example, imagine if in Nethack or any other traditional roguelike you lost access to your inventory for a few rounds if you got hit. That wouldn't be much fun at all, yet the same principle applies to FTL.

this game taught me that:
invest a lot on reactor power
make sure you have level 4 shields by sector 2
have really good engines
if you get a defense drone you better loving use it
dont have terrible weapons
dont have terrible luck

if you get a defense drone you better loving use it
You gotta watch those loving missiles. The shields don't do stuff to those.

make sure you have level 4 shields by sector 2
I usually only have three shields up for the final boss. Four is unnecessary.

level 4 shields by sector 2 wat

unless you're talking about the power itself, where level 4 is actually 2 points of shielding

I just play infinite space and now my ship is pmuch invincible

Finally got a victory with the zoltan cruiser.  Got two scrap recovery arms and ion weapons early on so I ended up with a ton of scrap.  Got the drones for at the second to last store specifically for the boss fight.  Almost died in the first boss round when he hacked my weapons.  Pro tip: if the boss hacks your weapons just leave and come back.  Hacked weapons + cloak means you basically never get to shoot.  Nearly died figuring that out.

i love this game. but its like minesweeper. even if you know what you are doing you can only actually complete like 1 out of 15 games depending on luck lol.

Mantis Cruiser is very fun, and you get a ton of scrap
just sayin

Except that Minesweeper isn't about luck, its about how long you can last until you accidentally left click something you were supposed to right click.
