Author Topic: So I've noticed a couple of things...  (Read 5289 times)

I just remember so many users being active and its just such a different place.

If you dont like the fact that people dont drama the people you dont like, how about you loving drama them yourself?
woah wtf

Ton of new users who I have to "adapt" to. Do i like it? No. Some of the users are okay. Some of them are incredibly annoying.
Deal with it dude. There have always been people who may be kind of annoying or act handicapped, but letting them get to you is a problem that has to do with yourself, not them. Learn to tolerate differences in others rather than assaulting them for it. I've followed this philosophy for many years and it's helped me deal with irritable and argumentative people by me knowing there is hope for them, rather than yelling at them something like "God hates you, go to hell".

But when it comes to trolls and people that do nothing but create problems on the forums (eg. lord tony/arthur5555/pacnet/okiver), I believe it's acceptable to let them know they aren't welcome here, but in a reasonable and logical way. For example, with Arthur5555, it'd be "I wish you'd stop making stupid threads, and here is my reason why..."

Another thing is wtf actually happened to the forums. I mean, off topic is just a bunch of megathreads and fads or whatever.
What's so bad about megathreads? They help keep multiple people interested in one topic clustered together in a single thread rather than spamming the board. Imagine how much of a nightmare it would be if instead of the one MLP and furry megathreads, we had hundreds of small pony and furry topics flooding the board. It's why people say "Keep it in the pony thread please".

Nothing interesting goes on in off topic anymore.
I beg to differ! Have you seen the thread about the crCIA in ukraine, or the cool thread about the newly proposed russian space hotel? There's tons of awesome stuff to read about, you must just not be looking hard enough, or perhaps your standards are unrealistically high.

The last thing I want to address is drama. Ive never seen a more stuff flinging place. I mean yeah drama has always been bad, but come on.
Mind explaining how it's changed? Aside from the once-a-month joke drama, everything in the board is completely legitimate drama. A backfired drama is legitimate because it's created a new source of interest in why the user who posted it did such a bad job and lost his support. A poorly-put-together drama by someone like, oh, arthur5555, is a legit drama because the real drama ends up being about how bad the OP was.

Also where the forget is the actual drama? Where is stocking? Lord Tony? Where are you people. These drama topics about the littlest issues nowadays are annoying in my opinion. Arthur5555, for example, and a few others I dont feel like getting the names of.
I fail to see how arthur5555 being a source of drama is any different from that of Stocking or Lord Tony.

Ton of new users who I have to "adapt" to. Do i like it? No. Some of the users are okay. Some of them are incredibly annoying. I dont want to point them out because it would be a semi-@#!% move. Seriously the forums always had its handful of idiots but there is a lot more now from what i can remember.
I agree with the OP on this. We've been getting a lot of really unsmart users, but I really say the best thing we can do about it, instead of trying to get them to leave, is help them. We all start somewhere. As for idiots like Arthur and several others, I'd just say let them have their fun, they're due for a ban any day now.

Another thing is wtf actually happened to the forums. I mean, off topic is just a bunch of megathreads and fads or whatever. Nothing interesting goes on in off topic anymore. And from what i can tell is that the brony thread died out or got lost or whatever. Not saying this is necessarily a bad thing its just kind of weird to see when i returned.
I don't see what's wrong with megathreads. It keeps crap like MLP and furry art in one place instead of having it roll all over the forums. Sure there's quite a few of them, but that's not a huge problem. There's still topics about how funny this video is, or discussing news topics around the world.

I say there's still some actual drama, just not as much, which is a good thing. We had Hammereditor DoS RTB last year, we had a Okiver topic and several other stuff.

He's saying offtopic pretty much exists of megathreads apart and ''post your xxx'' kind of threads.

Arthur is just your average idiot, at least Stocking and Tony were interesting, this is just people calling him a handicap without any real arguing because Arthur is incapable of doing so.

so OP is complaining about the fact that there's less drama and fighting than when he was around?

not particulary

''post your xxx'' kind of threads.
Well research isn't exactly allowed, but I suppose the closest that offtopic has come to "post your xxx" is the hot girls megathread.

Arthur is just your average idiot
He's definitely not the average idiot, he takes the definition of "stupid" to a whole new level

nothing is different about off-topic

Ton of new users who I have to "adapt" to. Do i like it? No.
You would have to do this anyway as more people continued to join the forums.

While trying to get along with those who are less than admirable isn't really all that fun, it's not a problem that is limited to leaving for a year then coming back.

I didnt think it was possible for someone to completely miss everything i was trying to say lol

Also this is the third time where ive stated that the changes ive seen arent necessarily bad, so im assuming you think im implying that they are bad.

You don't even have to get along with them.
forget those people. You don't have to play nicely with them. Nothing makes you do that.
The answer though is to not start stuff.

Just ignore them. You're on the internet, on a particularly active forum, with a heavily used Off Topic section.
It's not like you're locked in a room with them and have to listen to every piece of stuff that falls out their mouth.

There's plenty of people here who I can't stand. And all I do about it is move to another topic, or ignore their posts.

by xxx he meant "real lofe pictures", "desktop"...

The people who were drama'd frequently back in the olden days have all been removed from the forums for being anti-social arses who refuse to adopt more civil behavior. Badspot does not like to babysit, so he did the rational thing and kicked them out.
Why couldn't they change? most of them would've been alright but their attitudes were stuffty.
