They purposely left out jumping because of the way they made the "getting around objects" system. Why are you not criticizing Assassin's Creed?
because they're two different games. unless you're implying they shamelessly ripped code from one and slapped it on top of the other.

These people who are nitpicking probably don't even have the game.

If you have to buy the product to learn about it. Then you have already lost.

Smart consumers research stuff before they throw around money.

You are a fool

well he was saying that because the guy was comparing the game to mario because mario can jump and so jumping is a technological achievement that all games should have since mario

What's there to nitpick about? The game looks great to me and I don't even own it.

People are going nuts about the game because they were told that this would be a 'next-gen defining' game and showed amazing stuff in the E3 demo that's not present in the final game

And because of being told such lies, everyone's now looking under every nook and cranny to find everything that's not next-gen about this game

Such as the lazy window reflections, lack of particles when shooting the water, the ground, etc, trains stopping and starting unrealistically, lighting looking like garbage, AI being terrible, vehicle damage being poorly done, hacking being useless, the list just goes on and on like the Energizer bunny

Why can't people just enjoy the game for what it is?

The final product isn't what was advertized. People pre ordered months ago. They paid for a version they were shown. Before changes were made.
Sure they are dumb for doing so
But it's still bullstuff when major developers always do this.

And don't forget this: Possible story spoilers I guess?

Game was totally overhyped. They released way too much video of the gameplay. Luckily, I saw what was happening and stopped watching youtube trailers a long time ago. Now I enjoy the game very much. If they only released a teaser or two critics would now be yelling 'Game of the Year'. So if a developer is confident they have a great game, no need to overhype it prelaunch IMO.

edit: fixed quotes
Alright, I see where you're coming from and I can agree with that. I WANT to like open-world because there's just so much opportunity to teach people things that could actually apply to their real life. I'll admit that I actually had a fair bit of fun in GTA IV and San Andreas, but I've changed a lot since then...

Why can't people just enjoy the game for what it is?
If you like being force-fed crap, that's your prerogative.

On what basis is it good?

"Let's walk around, hack some stuff, shoot some things and ??"

It doesn't DO anything. You're just some guy in a city with a couple of abilities. It might be a good simulation where you can forget around, but it's not by any stretch a good GAME.

Game means something different to what most AAA devs and players think it does.

I enjoy it, period.
