Author Topic: not so illegal stuff in my school...  (Read 4970 times)

... caused by the administration. They recently installed this thing on ALL computers (Chromebooks, macs, the few PC's) which allows the administrator to view ALL computers IN THE SCHOOL'S screens, view details on the application the computer is running, and TRACK KEYSTROKES.
Last time I heard, that is extremely illegal.
This bullstuff also tracks history, programs, and takes screenshots when certain things are done on the teacher machine. This is COMPLETELY frustrating when 80% of highschool work is done on the computer, and you can't help but feel like the teacher is watching word by word what you are typing. It's not necessary, because the school already has skyrocket(I think that's what it's called?) blocking half the internet for "Adult material", like the BLF, about.com, yahoo answers, and WIKIPEDIA. The BLF is justified, but Wikipedia? What bullstuff.

Doesn't sound very illegal to me. Unless you legally own one of the computers, they can do with it whatever they wish to.

my school does this with our computer lab, scary thing is that they can take control of them whenever they want.

nope
sadly its completely legal
doesnt mean its ethical though
how would teachers like if the principal did the same thing to them? they'd probably throw a fit

i remember that my sophomore ap lit teacher tried to install a program like this onto our computers

thank god that it failed miserably

um one of my teachers does this all the time and I don't care
it even says when the teacher is looking in a pop up, all I do on the computers there is work anyway

what? this shouldn't be a problem unless

1) you're doing stupid stuff on the computer
2) you're planning on doing stupid stuff on the computer
3) you're not doing classwork

use the computers as their intended to be used and there won't be a problem?????????

yeah who cares if the nsa is spying on our phonecalls
we're not doing anything illegal so i dont care!!

Usually I'd agree, they should be able to do that, but holy forget, by the features of the program, that's so eerily creepy that it'd affect my work knowing how much they can see just by clicking once or twice. What my last opened program was? What I'm using? What's RUNNING on my computer? Not that it might be bad, but, wow. That's just.. creepy.

because the school system is obviously part of the secret new world order program duh, it's clearly stated in this pamphlet they gave us.

uh yes, LANschool is used in many schools to make sure you're using the computers in the way they're supposed to be used.. that's not illegal or annoying at all??

honestly though it sounds like you're in a computer lab setting in a class and mad that you can't screw around and browse the internet... i don't get the big deal.

i also don't understand this argument
if the nsa was tapping your call but you don't have anything to hide why do you care? it's not like they're taking down notes to send gossip stuff to your friends or something, it's working for a bigger good??

Our school computers are also like that, and they have a proxy that is really annoying.
They can do it, unless its your personal computer.

I care if the government is acting as a big brother, but I could care less if the school was

when you walk into any school, you're automatically giving up your right to privacy. ever wonder why they can search your locker? because it's not yours dipstuff. your argument is a stuff one because you're only supposed to use the computers for their intended use and nothing will happen if you use them properly. don't get me wrong, this is pretty creepy that they could do that but it still makes sense.

Usually when I do something shady I just log into a random student's account so they don't know it's me. Our school district's security is so flawed I got the usernames, passwords, names, addresses, birthdays, and phone numbers of every kid in our school district.
