Honestly, this is my opinion. I'm going to borrow a bit from ultimax that in Japan, Gay Marriage Is not legal and is not a very popular subject either. On top of that Gay Marriage in the States is supported, but it is not the Majority. So what do you think Nintendo is going to do? Not include it. Which pisses a minority of people off and not the Majority. Imagine if they did allow it, what would happen? A bunch of bigots (more than the people currently advocating) would be against the game. Almost the opposite of this situation. They are doing this to appeal the the larger market, and piss off the least amount of people in the process. Not to mention this Is a PARODY game. People are making a game that is not least bit serious, serious.

no one is against the sims

This is really stupid. Oh my god, a company is catering to like 95% of the population as opposed to like 3%! How terrible! Like, seriously?
Since same-love marriage wouldn't replace opposite-love marriage, but instead be an option, it's more like catering to 90% of the population as opposed to 100%

I'm assuming by this you mean "the majority of US citizens do not support gay marriage"
But this is false

Honestly though I think there are bigger things to worry about that whether or not you can get married in a loving game. Plus the developers live on a completely different continent, with way different cultural norms

I was proposing a hypothetical situation. But, since you brought it up. This is because same love relationships in the sims are not readily apparent. It took three games to slowly but surely work this mechanic in, and it's not even called marriage (http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Same-love_relationship). Making it readily apparent to people straight and homoloveual alike, that this was an option and not mandatory so there was little controversy on the topic.

Not exactly opposed. I meant either unaffiliated OR didn't support. Not outright disapproval.

well clearly gay marriage is slated to become fully legal. also the developers live in JAPAN and they're not responsible for localization so they wouldn't take the US into consideration at all. googling it now I see gay marriage isn't legal in japan, so that could explain their choice (it could also be a japanese cultural thing). i don't really blame nintendo for what they've done, but i just wish that games would include the option for same-love relationships in the future.
i said this at the beginning of the thread. they apologized for it and said it was too late to change anything

reminds me of how the fable series had actual real gameplay games and in those you could be a fudgepacker all you wanted

"Not supporting" and "disapproving" are just two different ways of stating the same opinion. They both mean the same thing, that you don't support it.
Either way, the claim is false. A majority of Americans do support it

some of you keep mentioning how this is because gay culture in japan isnt accepted or whatever

but youve been able to marry the same love in japans harvest moon games for an incredibly long time
while in the american versions its removed

just saying

Alright. I see that I am wrong. But like I said, this could also stem from same love marriage not being legal in Japan.
