what I think would be a good idea would to have a map rotation with most ridiculously overpowered items like the beetle, gust bellows, etc. removed
special flag should be removed as well
and assist trophies
and pokeball/masterball

Okay, I think we'll set it up a week after release to let people train and unlock their mains, ban only some items. (Beetle, Gust bellows, special flag, galaga, anything that allows cheap kills) But I want to keep smash balls in cause they cool and the way they move make it a little more fair. Their spawn rate is kind of low too, so it shouldn't be that big of a problem.

As for stages I think we should do any stage and depending on how many people join we could like start of with 4-player fights until we widdle it down to enough people for the semi-finals and stuff.

Maybe for the semi-finals and finals we do Final destination (Or any FD version stage) with no items, does this sound like a good idea? I don't really want this to be a super competitive tournament. Just a fun little release celebration tournament.

i don't think we'll even have enough players to justify doing 4 player
4 player sucks anyway, it's completely chaotic

What's wrong with a little chaos? Makes it more exciting IMO :P

A tourney seems like fun, although I do agree with Waffle Cake, it should be at least a week after release so people can get used to their mains

wouldn't it be more fun if we all just jumped into the game, picked a new character (dibs on greninja) and we just battled each other like that, not knowing what the game has in store for us

it would be better if you just used a random character (the random slot)

Also, we might need a person who has already unlocked every unlockable character so we have a wider selection.

I'm the man for the job :J

I'll have the game 100% with my amazing power saves for 3ds

no items
fox only
final destination

from what i've seen dr. mario is just slower mario with less combos and but way stronger moves. except his up b sucks.

looks like it might also be the same for dark pit. interesting.

also sorry for the double post i keep going like "alright ill post this later" but then i accidentally click post and i'm like woops

edit: i watched some weird gameplay. it turns out dark pit is actually faster and also a lot like pit from brawl

are you in some sort of war against fun
free for alls suck for like 50% of characters, especially slow characters, characters with bad recoveries or defensive options, etc
also all you need to do to win a free for all is camp
What's wrong with a little chaos? Makes it more exciting IMO :P
You're giving everyone a week to practice their main. Decide now. Is this a tournament tournament or a "hey let's forget around and play ssb4" tournament? Why would you need to practice your main for the latter?

Even if items are turned on there's no harm in wanting to win so what harm is a little practice for a casual tournament? Look, if you don't like the idea you don't have to participate. But a majority of people seem to be cool with it, so that's probably what we're going to do.

wow, haha, i can see i won't want to play with any of you overly competitive losers, lol
