Srs m8. Mega man can use it for a true combo, diddy can easily abuse it with his banana peel, and link can do it with his bombs.
Pretty much any character that can spawn items can use this to get an easy grab. Even if the enemy shields, they are stuck in shield stun allowing you to grab them.
This makes me embarrased to enjoy fighting games. You don't need fifty bazillion obscure movement methods to enjoy a damn game.

Contrary to what you seem to think, some people actually like to play competitively. Shocking, isn't it?

people can enjoy the game in different ways

so I was fighting moriarty on the lumiose city stage
he was trying to recover but mised and hit me as I fell off the edge, knocking me on the platform while he falls to his death
nice guy

i also somehow used my 2nd jump 2 times in a row
so that match was awful
also im done for now gonna go do something else

competitive =/= using gimmicks and other tricks that only certain characters can do without items on

i see no reason to play the game using silly things like that when i can just tap the brown townog stick one side and suddenly start moving

..that is exactly what competitive people do

I'm up to it but I got so used to using the Wii U controller I'll probably suck.
"Yay! There's now a new, gimmicky, borderline useless attack method! Even though it'll be patched at some point, Smash Bros is a real fighting game again!"

This kind of thing isn't a gimmick. It adds depth to the character. Discovering glitches and quirks with the game engine was literally the basis for competitive smash, and movement options are extremely important in a platform oriented fighter like Smash. To act like this is a bad thing is fundamental misunderstanding of what makes Smash so loved.

I don't think you know the competitive smash community very well.

While dashing you can't do much. Just dash attack or grab.

But when using something like a glide toss you can move forward while charging a smash attack or slide into a tilt all while the person directly in front of you is shield-stunned.

It's like perfect pivoting. More motility means more depth. I like the idea of being able to bait out attacks and punish with a perfect pivot forward smash, for example.

^^ This. It's like wavedashing in Melee. It's moving around like normal except that you can do anything while moving.

Woah holy stuff guys, Nintendo is going to be involved with Apex 2015

Seems like they've changed their mind about competitive Smash.

what if nintendo released an "apex patch" that made smash non-competitive in every single way possible
