I still have a million Nintendo games I need to register ( along with a 3DS that isn't registered ), can I still get a code that way? Or did you have to be a Platinum member already?

You had to be a Platinum Member between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. You had to have your 3DS registered and you had to have e-mail opt-in enabled. If you didn't do that before June 30th, you're too late.
