Its hard to punish when someone plays Mii gunner, spams his Fire Side B + Bomb B, waits until you jump over and then rolls to the other side of the fire/map and continues to spam those two moves exclusively.

we played two matches and all he did was play Mii gunner and only use four moves: Side B, B, Roll, and side A

do you know how predictable using those four moves are

just dodge the side b, take advantage of the cooldown and use a smash attack/tilt
if you think he'll roll use a projectile/dash attack/slide smash (basically, as soon as you start dashing input an up smash command
if you think he'll use neutral B or side A use a counterattack (includes reflect and absorption attacks)

toon link i was doing alright but I really didnt want to continue because it was just getting annoying so I killed myself.

keep in mind that the mii gunner's fire side b has a long startup/cooldown so try taking advantage of that

If I was in his position I'd slowly walk to enemy so that the shield would be up and ready to block projectiles.

you were rolling to the edges of the map and just throwing down your fire everywhere, and then rolled away

yeah, it's stuffty tactics, but it's not the ultimate obstacle. loving think when you play and they won't get you, unless they are playing smarter.
