as a king dedede main i can tell you from experience that this is some stuff and you can jump out of it

every time mario hits the ground is a chance he can jump out or shield it

It looks like if you time it correctly they won't be in hitstun when they touch the ground, since it's set knockback

Huh, this is quite interesting. One of Villager's bones is called "SWG_LKneeJ0__stuff".

Notice the name. It maybe hinting that it's just a bone that the developers didn't use. But still, stuff? I don't know...
