i agree, i mean "high level intense competitive play" for melee is just game exploits and generally unfair/ridiculous gameplay.
well it's not like any of these techniques automatically kills your opponent.
every glitch and technique (btw like 10% of them are actually glitches) isnt actually very useful if you don't know what to do with it. it just adds options.
like wavedashing just scoots you along the ground. it sounds useless on paper. but it can be useful when someone tries to dash attack you or run up and grab you, because you can scoot backward and forward smash them or whatever. scooting around, when applied correctly, adds a lot of depth to your play.

i don't understand how that makes it unfair. anybody can learn and apply these techniques, they're not inaccessible, it just takes practice. you don't even need them, it just makes it easier to have the extra options.

this post is so boring. melee is boring and nobody wants to do that stuff unless they've already poured so much time into it that there's no going back. meanwhile i'll be having fun with an actual modern upgrade to the series

also melee is 100% not for everyone of all skill levels that is a blatant lie

hey at least melee is obsolete now

Mewtwo is 2 easy to beat for meh lololol

melee isnt actually a fundamentally bad game, it was good for its time. however its time as a well dated game has passed and the fans trying to make it something it isnt, all while lashing out at installments that could threaten that game's status, makes the scene for that game pretty damn bad

thats like your opinion man
also melee can be as casual as smash 4 assuming all players are on the same skill level. a pro can show up and beat the piss out of everyone in all smash games although in melee said pro can do it more efficiently
hey at least melee is obsolete now
the considerable differences in how melee plays compared to other smash games will keep it alive for quite a while unless nintendo releases melee 2 or everyone decides to swap to pm

did i ever claim it was 100% for everyone of every skill level? no

if its not for you its not for you. doesnt make it unfair or a stuffty game. theres nothing unfair about being better at something you spend time practicing.

fact is melee has been played competitively for 13 years and is stronger than ever. an objectively boring game could not captivate that many for 13 years, especially given that there's like no money in being super good at it.

it may be boring to you but do not conflate that to pretend it's an objectively stuffty game.

i think if it was "fans trying to make it something it isn't" the scene would not have thrived 13 years. i'm fairly certain only a few other fighting game scenes have lasted that long or longer. (sf2, kof, third strike? i cant think of anything else) its age is testament to its viability as a deep and interesting fighting game.

99% of melee players don't give a stuff if you play the later installments or not. ive never met someone who attacked smash 4 as a "threat to maylay" or whatever you're attempting to convey. don't use twitch chat as a representation of any online community, esp smash

i have just had it with elderly ass fans of melee hobbling after me with their crutch because im actually having fun so that dinosaur of a game can go eat my ass until its playerbase isnt consistent of impatient rudeasses

also im not basing this off of twitch chat, im basing it on every instance of melee fans i have seen on the internet and in some cases real life. did you see how much of an starfish melee fans were being at apex 2015?

it sounds like your only exposure to melee fans is twitch chat.
and rude fans has nothing to do with the game being boring, which was your original pointo

when have you met melee fans in real life? ever?
the thing at apex was forgeted up. remember that giant post on the front of /r/smashbros right after that happened? nobody in the community is proud of that moment. smash is not well represented by one instance of a small group of people being richardholes

Ah yes, I remember when I was a little lad I played melee at my cousin's house and then I begged my parents to buy it for the gamecube and got it and loved it.

I had like over 1000 hours on that (pure estimate).

Oh yeah and that was when I discovered Ness :p.

the fans rabidly defending such a mediocrely aged game is what pisses me off, and the fact that you continue to imply that im basing even any of this off of twitch chat and not melee fans i literally cannot avoid seeing is astounding

in terms of game design melee is pretty flawless (competitively at least. adventure mode and the other stuff is kind of whatever)
the only way you can really say it's aged is in presentation. the graphics are butt ugly and you have to play on CRTs.

i can get being mad at people stuffting on something you do. but defending something you do isnt something to get up in arms about. if what pisses you off is people defending something theyve put time into, you should reconsider your priorities.

i don't get how you "cannot avoid" seeing melee fans
if melee is on a stream, and you think it's boring, why are you watching that stream? turn it off
