I think during an interview with him when Cave Story was mentioned he became arrogant and seemed to belittle it as if it were a nothing game. I guess it's more of an opinion thing but I think Phil just won't acknowledge he was clearly inspired by Japanese games although Fez has tons of aspects from them. That and I just don't like Fez either. Look, I don't know Phil but he comes off as someone I wouldn't like.
