The trading fleet is met with some ships stopping the fleet, and demanding that they have permission to thoroughly check the wares that they wish to trade, if they are denied the fleet will be turned back, and simple trading with Albiton will continue.
Trading fleet accepts.

Trading fleet accepts.

The fleet float up and men board the trading vessels, extremely thoroughly search through the ships before replacing everything that was moved. They are careful and aren't exactly forceful with any of the searching at first, though a few become under suspicion of something and continue searching through. It appears they're looking for something or someone in particular. Spooky.

If there aren't any stow aways, hiding cigarettes, or anything of significance, they'll send the trading fleet on their way with a bit of coin for their trouble, but if there /are/ stow aways, said individuals will be seized and taken off to imprisonment, or if the case is much worse than that, the entire fleet.

The Albitonic flag is found on one of the larger vessels, but due to the language barrier, Atenisians have a hard time explaining the purpose of the flag.

(said purpose is a simple replacement flag for the fleet's spearhead vessel that was ship wrecked.)

Atenisian Capitol Guards or the A.C.G. are found on one of the other larger vessels, but they are obviously for protecting the fleet (who departed from Athens). Various Atenisian weapons are found under bunks or in trunks near the soldiers' sleeping quarters (but you wouldn't know that they were).

Great navigators gather round to discuss the optimal trade routes for the shortest, and fastest, journeys.

That wasn't in the terms >:(
Nor was a provision to help you in research.  All other deals are arrived at by either negotiation or a decision by Albiton's discretion.

As violence in the southern lands fails to resolve itself and instead intensifies, the Avalonian fleet is sent in (the first one made up entirely of warships, intended to cripple enemy navy or secure a perimeter for the beachhead to come).  I'll let the moderators and whatever force, divine or physical, that controls the dice take over from here.
The enemy navy approaches, armed and ready for war, but as the Avalonian fleet draws near, the enemy navy, even though prepared to die at the hands of the Avalonian fleet, knows they are outnumbered and outmatched.

Once in range, arrows begin to be fired between the opposing fleets.  The Avalonian fleet begins to form a U shape around the opposing fleet, firing more and more volleys of arrows.  After the volleys thin out from the opposing side, a ship that appears to be the command ship, fires a red fireball into the air.  The others then fire theirs, and the arrows stop coming.  The enemy fleet now grows silent.  Not a man can be seen on deck.

The Avalonian fleet holds off.  If we wait for them to run out of provisions we get free ships out if it assuming they don't scuttle them.  If we head in now we face fierce fighting on deck and the possibility that they hook our ships and scuttle, taking us with them, or blow themselves sky high or something, given their apparent mastery over fire, which is perturbing enough.  Start collecting stray arrows and repairing sails - must be full of holes now.

Meanwhile the beachhead ships are sent in to begin the land invasion.  A couple others are sent to ensure that the warships have adequate supplies of food and water.

Road/trade route is near completion to Caprica. Merchants prepare themselves for the new trade opportunities.

As the Avalonian landing party approaches the beachhead, archers from land fire flaming arrows at the approaching ships, aiming primarily for the sails.

A young explorer creates a rather taboo triangular sail that betters speed and maneuverability.  Interest is low, however.

Erinamese half of the Spice Road reaches 73%.

Random events coming soon.

So you're aware, where the beachhead is landing and where the enemy fleet is should be totally different locations, warships were meant to clear out the seas ahead to ensure no naval threat to the beachhead.  Te likelihood that the enemy fleet was waiting just where the beachhead was to land would be low.
The warships sent to guard the beachhead ships are sent to the front to attract enemy fire (a couple remain behind to guard the rear and flanks and such) as the landing ships are rerouted to somewhere they'll hopefully be out of range of enemy fire and still able to land.  Oar power, ACTIVATE!

In non-invasion related news, Avalonian sailors make a fairly accurate guestimate as to where a settlement should be put to reach the 'Eastern Kingdoms' using Belanese astrological lore and dead reckoning.  Once the war ends and things settle down, resources will be diverted to establishing a settlement.  Varansk is offered the opportunity to engage in a joint venture on this given the prospective settlement's relative proximity to Varansk.  Avalonia offers profit potential based on relative resources expended on the settlement (tax revenue from the settlement divided according to resource input on initial settlement).

Yes, they are separate places.  The archers are firing from land,  behind moderate cover, and they can still move along the beach.  Some of the ships in the invasion fleet catch fire due to the arrows.

The enemy warships pull out from around the corner and begin to spread their fleet along the back and east side.  Arrows once again are fired at the Avalonian fleet.  The ships come closer and closer.  The first ship comes within range from the northeastern side, and the men begin to use slings, firing rocks wrapped in strips of spare sails, doused with flaming oil.  More ships follow, setting the ships alight.  As a last resort move, however, this begins to set some of the enemy ships on fire.

More like 200.

In response to the demand of arms, blacksmith guilds have rose to power in Auria, refining and making use of Auria's rich ores. Metal production and arms production has increased as a result.

The head of defense is happy with how well the recruits are doing in training. The nation now has 500 loyal men ready to lay down their lives for their country.

Hold on, the point of sending the warfleet through first was to wipe out enemy warships.  Where the heck were these things hiding?

Return fire *rollsnaredrums* and forget about taking enemy ships, just roast 'em.  Ram them if we have to.  Get the landing party to shore to take out them ranged enemy troops - most are mounted cavalry anyway and worst comes to worst they're no worse off a horse than on one.  Send two of the fastest ships back to let the warfleet and the Council know what's happening with the landing party.

No mercy is to be shown to these soldiers.  Later on in the campaign, perhaps, but no mercy now.
