Well, since Nick and I are in and out of my apartment so much all day, and we were forgeted up, I happened to lock myself out of my apartment not once but twice in one day. My apartment complex is like a hotel where to get into the complex you need a key card and then to get into any of the apartments you need a key card. Doors lock behind you automatically. So twice I had to call my roommate to let me in. Then a few hours after we dropped acid and we were about to start peaking, so about 3am, we walked out of my apartment without a keycard for the third time in one waking session. I had too much pride to call my roommate at 3am obviously forgeted up on something, if he'd even pick up, so I told nick we're gonna have to be homeless for the next three hours.
It was bitterly cold. Not literally freezing cold, it was only like 39* F, but Nick comes from Arizona and I live in Sunny San Diego, so to us this may as well have been loving antarctica. Luckily Nick had convinced me to wear one of his beanies (I look bad in 'em so I usually don't wear them) and we had long pants / jackets on, or I don't know what we would have done. We moved around from place to place looking for shelter from the wind chill, but pretty much everything was cold as forget. We found an unlocked building on my campus eventually, but since we were forgeted up and obviously not supposed to be there so we hid from the windows so cops wouldn't see us and cashed in on the vending machines in there. About half an hour of warmth later, we hear the door open and both instantly shut up. Nick pushes me into dark corner and hides next to me where he can peek out and keeps shushing me every time I whisper and ask who came in. As a non-criminal on psychedelic drugs, that was probably one of the most absolutely terrifying moments of my life. A minute later, we hear another door open and close, and we go to scope the whole thing again and make sure we're good. Regardless, we were terrified and decided to leave. Eventually we came back after being driven to it by the cold, and Nick went to go scope it out again while I waited outside. I backed myself up into a wall cut out where a payphone had used to be, then realized how loving stupid I looked with huge loving pupils and a grin on my face while shivering, alone, with nothing but a bag of cheetos in my right hand held against my chest in a very small wall cutout at 4:30 AM. I walked out and started walking in circles waiting for Nick, but I still looked suspicious as forget if anyone saw me, so I kind of walked by a staircase where I was less likely to be seen. Right then, I see nick through the glass doors running TOP SPEED dodging tables and stuff towards me. Every muscle in my body tenses and I prepare to run top speed with Nick from whatever it is he's running from, but as he gets to me he comes to a full stop. I physically stutter and then ask him why he's running. He left his wallet with me and wanted food from the vending machines.
We left again pretty quickly, around 5am, and found a spot behind some maintenance buildings that provided shelter from wind where we balled up in our jackets for warmth. We just sat there tripping nuts and talking for a half hour or so when I realized that stores start opening soon and that we could go there for warmth. I look up the opening time for the nearest grocery store and it's 6:00. In my acid-distorted vision I could see it far away (we were up on a hill) and by this time it was about 15 minutes till, so we took off in search of the warmth. It took two minutes to get there. We sat around back for like ten minutes when Nick finally realized that we could literally slip our jackets over our knees while we sat to form an ultimate shell of warmth. We felt so loving stupid for not figuring this out three hours ago when we were first freezing our richards off, but five minutes before warmth is available. Sun was starting to rise and we somehow missed opening time and walked in at about 6:30, completely and utterly grateful for some sense of warmth. We were also starving, having eaten nothing for almost 24 hours. Somehow, Nick decided that the best possible thing to spend our last $5 on to keep us warm and full was a god damn frozen pizza. He almost had it out of the fridge when I realized not only did we not have any way to cook it, but we were loving freezing outside and a frozen pizza would in no way help us. We ended up spending our last $5 on a redbull so I could stay awake the next day for my obligations, then went home. We broke into my apartment complex by hopping the gate and rang my doorbell, and one of my roommates opened the door with the most "god damn it dude why did you wake me up" look on his face ever. I said "We locked ourself out." in the most short tone ever and walked right past him, kicked my shoes off, and bundled myself up in bed tighter than I ever have before. Nick followed suit.
