On modding: Whatever they are your mods, but I cannot stand the ego of the modding community. I believe mods should be made for the intent of improving upon a game, not for bragging rights. The only mods and addons that should be integrated into the game are the Fillcan, the duplicator, RTBs ability to chose color sets, auto and admin. is anyone saying they should be exclusively for bragging rights

All the private mod stuff for the sake of a larger e-peen is toxic. If its made for fun or its in the prototype stage, whatever. i think everyone agrees here

For the people that bitch at badspot like Heed, Kalphiter, trinick, why don't you guys go make your own game if you disagree with Badspot so much? You are talking to a wall, walls aren't moved by words. Go make yourselves useful and make some sort of sandbox game. I've got my monies worth out this game. I've made great friends, built things big an small, built dream locations, witnessed great creations like the NWB basilica, many MotE and USSR clan builds. because this game has an established community and is already made. they're asking for changes that wouldn't be as much effort compared to creating an entirely new game, coding and designing it, creating art and assets, marketing and creating a community for it.

responding to posts like this makes it harder to respond. ik it's easier than quoting each section separately but that is really the best and most attractive way to do it
if not that then you could just use numbers. like in the quotes, put a [1] or a [2] or a [3], etc. before the bits you're responding to, and in the real part of your post just put those numbers before your reponses

anyway, about the first thing, I think he meant that some modders already do it for that reason, and he is saying they should not

like 90% of modders that are withholding their mods from the public are doing it because they dont think anyone wants it

I would like to say upfront that I have been involved with Blockland since before it went retail. I've spent countless hours working on projects related to this game. The experience of building things in Blockland is unrivaled even after all these years.

That being said, the game does seem to be losing some of its momentum lately. Considering how long Blockland has been active, it makes sense. Surley an indie developer shouldn't be expected to work on a project ad infinitum or without hiatus. There are many legitimate concerns that have been brought up in this topic though I think that it should be made clear that Badspot does not have any obligation to address any of them. Even if it was Greenlit, a lot of indie games aren't updated after they make it onto Steam. The game is old and I would consider the official modding capabilities to be "good enough". The fact that Badspot releases updates at all should be appreciated. Of course things could be improved but there are always other games out there.

It would be nice for alternate forms of game modification to become more commonplace though. This game is going to "officially" die eventually and I would hope that some mechanisms are put in place to make things on that front a bit easier.

I know I've got my money's worth. I enjoyed the game. I wished to have enjoyed it more, or opened up Badspot to some suggestions so that the game could be more enjoyable for new players as well. I'm not sure if you've noticed but we've went from 1.2k active players down to 0.3-0.4k in a really short amount of time.
