This makes no sense. You're saying that people with a different belief system couldn't have made improvements to the world we know today. God never said that people were supposed to remain primitive.
Except we would have stayed primitive (and by that i mean significantly more primitive than we are now, i'm not saying things wouldnt have improved AT ALL) if we never tried to figure out why things happen.

so, by your logic, if we dont know something we can just state something supernatural and it's now easily possible? okay

the pasta monster created the first molecule

okay time to put that down into my list of facts...

I need to see a reliable source that people who choose religion wouldn't make the improvements we have today.

we do not know about alternate timelines about possibilities about what could have happened, but heres something related

also you're ignoring a few statements...

I need to see a reliable source that shows that people who believe everything is done by an alledged omnipotent being and teach their children not to question the power of their lord would have ever made a microscope and discovered that everything is composed of cells.

Let me change that around for you.

"There is no God, therefore we don't know the answer."

Okay, makes much more sense.

What a terrible point. It's not necessarily one or the other. How about "We don't know, therefore no assumptions can be made?"

what was a nice handy dandy joke turned into an argument

The Catholic church was just one of his problems. His ideas were not even proven by anyone but himself. Same reason that teachers may not teach a religion to be true because they majority doesn't have proof that those ideas are true.

If you don't have a source that a Christian would have or have not created/discovered something, then how can you say that that's what would've happened?

only reason is because "evolution" is in the title. welcome to the blockland forums.

exactly, you're starting to get it! there's not much proof that creationism is true, yet there is LOTS of proof that evolution is true

i think he understands, guys.

It has nothing to do with belief systems or religion. "This is the answer, don't question it" is a bad train of thought in any case, even secular cases. If you condemn the act of finding an answer to a question, then an answer to that question will not be found. If no one searched for a cure to disease, then we wouldn't have found a cure to disease. You don't need a cited source for that, it's a purely logical conclusion.

Let me change that around for you.

No one is saying that, what are you talking about?
Also, I believe this counts as a straw man

His ideas were not even proven by anyone but himself
Galileo's model was adapted from Copernicus's model
The model itself was originally proposed by the Ancient Greeks

did you guys really spark a argument out of a joke video about a cat evolving from a pear?

god damn you guys

“Trust those who seek the truth, but doubt those who say they have found it.”

More like "welcome to every online community ever."

“Trust those who seek the truth, but doubt those who say they have found it.”

Also this.

There's a thing called an educated guess. You use your current knowledge of things to make a theory on something else using only facts.

For example, the chances of someone with such a closed mindset, someone who doesn't care how things work because they think that a god makes everything happen how it does, making any sort of major scientific tool like a microscope, is astronomically small since
  • they don't feel it's necessary to make one because they don't question their lord
  • no precision instruments to make it with
