I don't know what people are saying about the mask mechanic and Bonnie's missing face but they're both like two puzzle pieces of a two piece puzzle.
The security guard obviously took Bonnie's face somehow and is using it.

It probably won't use power, but the facial recognition of the new animatronics might mean that they'll start to get suspicious if it's used too much

The mask is a hollowed out original version of Freddy's head, and the original animatronics aren't supposed to be wandering around anymore, so if the new ones see old Freddy at the desk, they'll probably get suspicious and take you away
