so has it been decided? I'm a bit out of the loop
Not yet.
The voting has finished as of several hours ago, but the count is currently going through.
There are 32 regions of Scotland where votes are gathered. (however unlike a General Election, it isn't 32 votes for Yes/No, it's the tally of all Yes votes against all No votes. The areas are just for administrative purposes).
The 32 regions are now tallying all the votes, and removing any failed votes (people who vote for both options, or who vandalise the ballot sheet).
They will then submit the number of votes they recieved for each side.
Currently, only 2 region has submmited their votes.
That is Clackmannanshire (a small area north-west of Edinburgh), and it has 46.20% YES, 53.80% NO (16,350:19,036) (25 rejected ballots, turnout of 88.59%)
Orkney Islands has just given their votes. They are 32.80% YES, 67.20% NO (4,883:10,004) (20 rejected ballots, turnout of 83.72%)
