2 or 288
after that thread it got me thinking. i googled it to see on what people agreed and someone made a good point that "2(9+3)" is a single term. youre basically doing 48/(2(9+3)). but that raises the question here. 48/2x. 2x is a term, you could simplify it to 24/x but you couldnt do (48/2)*x. that makes no sense because it would give you 24x

but BA = AB
so (48/2)(9+3) = (9+3)(48/2) if you add the brackets
but if you dont you still get 48/2(9+3) = (9+3)48/2

SO IS IT 2 OR 288 THIS IS CONFUSING AS forget

man life isnt the same anymore. food doesnt taste the same anymore. music doesnt sound the same.

48÷2(9+3)
48÷2(12)
48÷24
=2

I hope I did that right

I think I did

you always multiply before you divide why is this a question?

2

you do parentheses first

48/2(12)
48/24
2

order of operations, this is 7th grade math

WHAT IF I DO DIVISION FIRST
HUH?
24(12) != 2
WHAT NOW
PEOPLE KEEP SAYING WHAT EVER COMES FIRST BETWEEN DIVISION OR MULTIPLICATION

I'll repeat it again.

--L E F T  TO  R I G H T- ->
48 / 2 * (9 + 3) = X
24 * 12 = X
288 = X

If you really need help, do this:

(48 / 2) * (9 + 3) = X
24 * 12 = X
288 = X

You do it in this order:
Look left to right for any parenthesis, if so evaluate them with these same rules
Look left to right for any exponentiation, if any is found evaluate it
Look left to right for any multiplication OR division, if any is found evaluate it
Look left to right for any addition OR subtraction, if any is found evaluate it

The answer is 288.

I'll repeat it again.

--L E F T  TO  R I G H T- ->
48 / 2 * (9 + 3) = X
24 * 12 = X
288 = X

If you really need help, do this:

(48 / 2) * (9 + 3) = X
24 * 12 = X
288 = X

but then why is everyone arguing against it? people keep saying if you put into calculator and get 288 CALCULATOR IS WRONG because it doesnt follow random theory mumbo jumbo

it only took 1 equation to break blf :(

When did you ever say it in the first place?
In the thread before this one, first page I think.

lol jobless, order of operations

stuff on my mcmuffin
