Author Topic: Anagaea II – A New Age of Empires [1117 AD]  (Read 135449 times)

The Atenisian Navy lands on the shores of the island between the Espovonian island stretch and the Albitonic island (the largest one unclaimed).
It claims it and says no touchy; it attempts to peacefully vassalize/protectorate any natives of the island.

thats albiton lol

Gungxi's rapid changes are viewed by many as draconian, and many of Taijoau's more ardent Baoists leave the nation, mostly for Mawahe, where they disavow the "sluggard" Neishah Bao and declare the true Bao to be a Tei from among their own ranks, Jarkish, a native of Varakia.  Others leave for Molenia, Atlantia, and the Oriental Crowns.  Following these "True Baoists" are many who simply prefer the more bohemian and optimistic lifestyle of Baoism to the more rigid one under Buddhist rule.  Those that remain in Taijoau tend to be very hard workers and a very stubborn and devout bunch siding with Gungxi.

With things in Calzone seeming relatively stable, merchants from the New Union begin to engage in greater trade there, albeit oftentimes with armed guards to safeguard their wares.  Calzonian markets are thus rife with Avalonian wares including glass, metalwork, cloth, jewelry, and finished goods, oftentimes in exchange for gold, silver, timber, and grains.  Dreibetungist missionaries continue to move about Calzone (as before, with no involvement from the state), mostly preaching a message of honor, stability, and freedom; missionaries preaching for the expulsion of Cassians or warring factions are essentially nonexistent at this point.

I wouldn't say nonexistent at all.  I would say that the Cassian Church would have in its time of greatest influence there, placed leaders and missions so that losing ground would not be an option, and gaining ground be more feasible.  Not to say that they are actively making an advance, but that the probably 30-40% of the population that would be Cassian would not be losing ground, at least by any substantial amount.

In a sweep of military reform, the five militaries of Ezbátu are incorporated into one large military.  Rigorous examinations take place to reduce the military staffing for the next 50 years to come.  A new rank is created in place of the General's rank—Commander.  It has the same power as the old rank of General had, but now there are fewer that 100 Generals, a previously ludicrous number.  Generals are now decided by areas of operation, and by branch of the military.

As goods flood the OTA markets, Erinamese traders find need of horses.  Ezbátu also puts forward oxen on the market.

Private Erinamese traders begin trading incense and spices from the tropics, as well as dyes, so that state coffers may benefit.

Ezbátu contacts Taijoau with intention of purchasing Atlantia in full.  (Wondering why it's not called 'Esticia' because of the ocean nearby, but w/e)

Ezbátu also endorses Siderland and Avalonia as ETMs.

Serious work is applied to repairing or renovating the aqueducts, and all thoroughfares and trade routes.

Galaumia recommends making a large, centralized army for the Islamic Empire, with smaller, national armies in their respective countries. This would allow quicker deployments of troops in political situations involving the Islamic Empire as a whole, which happen a lot.

I was under the impression that you were already doing that.

I was under the impression that you were already doing that.
oh
well it seemed like we all kept our armies seperate but okay

I wouldn't say nonexistent at all.  I would say that the Cassian Church would have in its time of greatest influence there, placed leaders and missions so that losing ground would not be an option, and gaining ground be more feasible.  Not to say that they are actively making an advance, but that the probably 30-40% of the population that would be Cassian would not be losing ground, at least by any substantial amount.
I didn't say that Cassianism was being pushed out.  I said that Dreibetungist missionaries preaching for the expulsion of Cassians and faction warfare are effectively nonexistent.

Also, Siderland has no active connection with Avalonia at this point; due to distance limitations, I figured it was effectively out of range.  Siderland is just an NPC with a large influence from classical Avalonia in many aspects of life there including culture, political and military structure, and language.

The Order of the Golden lion begins to set up shop in Calzone, establishing its colleges and providing its own system of justice for members.  At this point, the Order's involvement there is very limited at this point given the large Cassian population, Calzone's having left the Union long ago and its subsequent failure to return, and other similar reasons.

A university is established in one of Avalonia's oldest cities, renowned for its art and music, to teach its pupils in these fields.  Curriculum includes painting, tapestry weaving, sculpting, calligraphy, and the playing of bagpipes, Annoying Orangeets, horns, various stringed instruments, and the drums.  The university has been funded by its home city, and a very wealthy individual has set aside funds to "invest in natural ability that would otherwise be unable to attend".  Locals are pleased, some in the Union scoff, and in the end it sticks.

Gungxi orders the military to secure the borders and prevent citizens from escaping without either paying a tax to leave the nation or having a notification of allowance of passage from the state. Citizens without these are captured and brought back to the nearest major cities where they are put to work on state farms.

Gungxi has his wife slain after she was supposedly caught sympathizing with the Baoist refugees.

Galaumia still endorses both Siderland & Avalonia. We have maintained relations with Avalonia, and Siderland is in the Orient region and has been so for a hundred years, although under a different culture.

I thought Gungxi was a monk.

No I mean you stated him as a monk before you stated he had a wife, so I'm more wondering if he was some kind of excommunicated monk or something.

Also grunter if you could send me a description on the Resuland, that would be fantastic, and Plethora, I would also like if you could upload the latest XCF so I can make edits.

Another huge update dump:

  • Zesisoter has become a very unsightly piece of territory in the past few centuries.
  • Tasmesova requests an alliance with the Kingdom of Estrand.
  • Eulon and Olmanen request trade with Hlaohamarr.
  • Peshland and Olva are now allies, and are now fighting a war against Unakrya and Aldegar.
  • Aldegar and Unakrya are now temporary allies.
  • Edbania becomes the macho slavic man and boasts of its power.  It's neighbors are unhappy with it.
  • Caprica undergoes a period of economic turmoil following the breakdown of Romicia by Ajakistan.
  • The new nation Auroude, composed from Auria and the Sordelands begins to think of organizing into a formal monarchy.
  • The Kingdom of Albhad and the Ytsur Empire begin to view each other with enmity.  Albhad denouncing the Ytsur people for condoning slavery.  Each one wants to join the OTA, but will not join if the other does.  The Ytsur Empire is looking on expanding eastward to make room for its massive population, however, it hesitates to do so at the threat of war with the kingdom of Albhad, which would be costly.
  • The Kingdom of Olis, after thousands of years of oppressing its people has fallen as a revolution backed by the nearby Republic of Olis has taken over.  The nation is now being reorganizing, and is now focusing on expanding its influence abroad through trade.
  • Ezbátu is setting its sights to the north where fertile rice-growing floodplains exist.
  • Urannor, Mirontrar and Maniva form an alliance circle and boycott the Southern Union's trading circles, because they fear that the Union is becoming too large.
  • Asar begins a campaign on Zurukland in order to control it as a center-point for trade and military advancement, and so far has not lost a single battle in the four years it has been at war, with over a quarter of Zurukland overrun.
  • Asar, The Bresini and the newly-formed Veranisk (from Agoria and Varansk) form an alliance circle called the Five Seas Alliance, and invite the Ytsur Empire to its ranks.  Ytsur is considering this carefully.

Hey, I'm just going about the brown townogy. It could be he gave up the monk lifestyle upon being appointed ruler and took a wife during this time.

Ezbátu contacts Taijoau with intention of purchasing Atlantia in full.  (Wondering why it's not called 'Esticia' because of the ocean nearby, but w/e)
The name was chosen during an alliance with Atensia, the name being signficant once the world expanded and they were no longer able to trade to that city when it was previously the furthest major land they saw, allowing it to become a place in their psuedogreekness as a psuedoatlantis.

Anyways, the current administrative head of state lord buddha humbly declines the offer stating the island being off too signficant of a cultural importance to simply sell off. That said, they will allow Ezbátuthe same deal of co-governance that they are allowed to administer to their own citizens set up on the island.
