Author Topic: Anagaea II – A New Age of Empires [1117 AD]  (Read 130513 times)

Ashibia's flag has the same symbol as Calzone's  :)

With tensions lowering between Avalonia and its neighbors, Avalonia takes steps toward making things peachy.  It offers Ormica, Espul, and North Calzone the opportunity to have permanent ambassadors to Avalonia so long as Avalonia may do likewise.  This way, negotiations and such may be carried out in a better manner, and ties may be strengthened.  Avalonia also wishes to open up trade once more.

Learning of the reformation of Erinaum, the Avalonian Council debates what action to take.  On the one hand, they more or less like the Belanese and are happy that they have power.  On the other hand, they worry that increased sectarianism may cause trouble and jeopardize Avalonian trade interests.  The Council eventually decides to continue on as if nothing changed.

Finding that Gungixao dislikes Avalonia for its colonies, Avalonia offers this to them:  Avalonia will surrender administrative control of its colony adjacent to Gungixao so long as Avalonia be permitted to trade as it has and no Avalonians living there be harassed.  Avalonia will keep its Southern Colony and be fairly unobtrusive.  It is made clear that in doing this, Avalonia will suffer some loss, and that for it to be officially ratified with the Council, Gingixao must agree to put Avalonia in some sort of most favored nation status as far as trade.

The Avalonian Council encourages the descendant of the royal line of the Britonic States to consider trying to use his influence in the eastern part of the Britonic ethnic region to join their brothers as part of Avalonia.

Research and work on better ship design is completed (after more than half a century of knowing that the Erinamese have a better type of sail), and Avalonian ships begin to be built better, and a fair portion of new vessels make use of triangular sails and some minor improvements in hull design.

Work is planned to improve cities throughout Avalonia, giving those without them large walls and those with them improvements and repairs.  Cities must have a good sized population for this to be done.

Clans:

Jidaiokure-no: (Antedeluvian's)

Yakahori Clan: The most powerful and oldest of clans, even amongst the Jidaiokure-no, the Yakahori hold the honor of having the current clan that is of present the blood of the ruling line. Their warriors are elites, and their blood runs strong through their veins. They are the wealthiest clan, and rule the flourishing city of Tengoku.

Satoyaka Clan: One of the most influential clans, only coming second to the ruling Yakahori, the Satoyaka have the greatest iron deposits in the country. Their weapons are found far and wide throughout the nation, blades rumored to be sharp enough to cut a man clean in half, maces sturdy enough to bash in the skull of a bear and not have as much as a scratch, deadly pins small enough to go unnoticed when hidden in the food of rivals- the Satoyaka are both feared and praised, for their history is large and vivid, as both angels and demons.

Watanēmasa Clan: The Watanemasa, the youngest of the oldest. While they have not necessarily ever been feared, they rose to power through fame, and their cherishing of knowledge. Their clan represents all philosophy, some may say. Not much history is behind this clan, but the blood of their ancestors grows thinner as their numbers increase, and they are reputed to have the most thriving land of the clans- the meat their hunters collect is what feeds the mouths of many.

Military:

Infantry wearing armors with a lamellar cuirass constructed from individual scales, generally composed of iron and leather. Underneath they wear padded leather, with cloth draping over with colors of that of their clan. Warriors of the Jidaiokure-no can rarely be found with lamellar cuirasses composed of iron plates.

Archers wear similar cuirasses, though composed entirely of leather their armor is light and easy to maneuver in. As per protocol, they are trained to use giant forget-off bows.

Ninjas are no myth in Rēsugurētā; their armors are composed of black clothes wrapped tight around their forms, and employ handheld crossbows, daggers, throwing stars as well as short swords. Of course, not many of them are seen. Because they're ninjas.

Buddhist warrior monks are here as well, while they act as generally independent forces from each temple, they can easily be brought together under the order of the Shogun and will take action against foreign invaders down to the last man, as they were sworn. They do not count as military, as they are not a part of the armies of any clans- their higher ranks and trainers are composed of veteran samurai whom train the younger monks either born into the temple or who voluntarily take their oaths.

Katanas and stuff up the ass.

Extremely well trained, the troops of Rēsugurētā excel greatly at almost all forms of battle at land, they often use their environment against their enemies and more often than not can easily hide within forestry and even mountainous regions as they're accustomed to. They are home to horseback archers and cavalry of many types, with infantry there but not in as much quantity as riders of both light and heavy sets of equipment.

Expect further depth into the clans and stuff as time passes.

I'd like to start here, mang, preferably owning and surrounding the valley in between the western and eastern mountain.

loving brilliant.

No, really. We really need a REAL man Asian empire.

You spend time making an ethnic map and what do people do?  Put a Japanese nation on the border of Britonic and Middle Eastern cultures.  Whatever.  That's a really nice flag though - really killer eagles.

Truth be told, I had a highland-ish japanese vision in mind with Resu, so despite how much it made me cringe I put them there. Soz baby, but gotta have me them mountains.

Wow rude.

Oh well.  It's mapped out.  All added in and everything.

Riders are sent west and eventually find Rēsugurētā. A diplomatic party is sent and gives Rēsugurētā roasted boar marinated in lime juice, garlic, and rosemary. It is filled with sweet dates and figs.

it is delicious
a peace offering

The diplomatic party is met by Clan Shinjiro, a bit plerplexed as they have no idea what any of the others are saying, they simply watch as they are gifted this food. They smile and nod, and heft it up and have it taken to the dining halls to enjoy, as they yell out their asian monkey screeches to get some food for the gifters as well. Whilst food testers make sure that stuff isn't poisoned, the cooks take a hour or two and bring out a massive, cooked heart of a bear, along side it is the body of a large, cooked bird, it's torso and midsection cut open and properly dissected, though its heart is left available to eat, with small portions of honey and other tasty stuff here and there to play with the tastebuds, and it is given to the party to take back home, and or enjoy here with them. Not like they can understand each other, anyways.

Unlikely alliance 2.0.

The diplomatic party thanks the men and bow, leaving with food in tow. They leave 2 men behind to learn the language and then report back with findings.

I do hope you mean east.

Also borderline powergame, due to the fact that you had no prior knowledge of Rēsugurētā.  Please PM me any questions, mlockha.

metagame*
I wouldn't go that far.  Besides, I allow some degree of metagaming.  To plan beforehand and organize the exploration and then find them as a result, I could care less.  Would even make more sense as a territory that is newly discovered to enter into the list of known empires.  However, mlockha just sent horse-mounted scouts in a specific direction, knowingly bearing gifts along with supplies to last them the journey, and into a place with extremely mountainous terrain equivalent to the Himalayas.  Meta, I can swallow.  This is more power than anything that holds a red flag.

fine

exploration parties are prepared and sent in all directions, to figure out the world. they carry maps with them to alter with what they see

wouldn't you have done that before hundreds of years ago

like i mean the only realistic option is grunter sending people around

just my 2 cents
