Author Topic: Anagaea II – A New Age of Empires [1117 AD]  (Read 130530 times)

The Bēlänese leaders are annoyed at the twisting of their words, and do their best to hide it, the demagogue poorly and the other perfectly.  The leader of the men of Tsekenaum takes the opportunity to speak before the scribes arrive:
"Only His Majesty sees the land as one cohesive being.  The four states are by no means the four legs of one animal - they are the sunrise and the sunset, brought into unnatural union by the force of His Majesty's ancestors.  Centuries of subjection have no more united our peoples into one than centuries of violence would.  As the stomach and a bad apple may exist in peace separately, together neither benefits.  I beseech His Majesty to give to the Bēlänese and the Tsekenese greater sovereignty, if not the prize in full, for in distance lies the way to peace and plenty."
The leaders of the Bēlänese factions seem pleased with this discourse.

Fydorsmen officials inform them that there is no particular reason and that this unification would make both nations stronger. Lotavik proposes a marriage to bond the realms.

The trade with Saobar is stopped all at once.

Military and city reforms are in the process.

Also, what would be a reasonable amount to raise my population to after all this time?

Aurian explorers discover Galaumia. Some move north after hearing about more empires up that way.

NPC List Updated.

Here's what happened:

  • Olis and the Olisian Republics expanded.  They have come to terms with each others' existences and live in a tense peace.
  • The nations to the West of Galaumia have been defined.
  • Banishira has been formed out of tribes, in order to stand against the Bequelans.
  • The Bresini, Asar and Albaea have expanded.  Asar and Albaea have just signed a peace treaty after 100 years of war that left them at a stalemate, where they started.  Asar and the Bresini are now allies.
  • Ajakistan has been formed from rebellious Romician territory and from a the Sakastani government to the West.
  • The Sordelans has been defined as a place where the nomadic population that inhabits Auria came from.
  • Aspidis has been divided into three parts.
  • Enteland has been defined.  Despite the trade route mapped there, assume it is remote and undiscovered.
  • Sweisen and North Calzone have been defined.
  • Albiton has expanded, taking land from weak tribal confederations.  Albiton becomes a fully-Catholic Christian nation revolving around the Cassian Catholic Church.

The Ivēxür responds, explaining that the legs be equal, and that the head, that which commands the legs to operate, was not discussed.  "The body is not the legs, nor the legs the body."

The scribe enters with a dozen legal scholars hastily summoned from the Vålderesk School.  Additionally, several men enter which the Bēlänese and Tsekenese leaders and orators notice as key Zēnian politicians.

"I have since this discourse began, never disputed the issue of gained sovereignty.  However, it is something that I will grant only if the brothers and sisters of the crescent, the flame, the sword, and the plough swear to be friends, and to not ill one another, but to cooperate, to grow, and to be made stronger by our mutual peace."

By this time, many of the noblemen of Erinaum begin to talk nervously to one another.

"Silence, please."  The voice is from the Ivēxür's captain of the guard, Toelemo Sincan, a Bēlänese Rafcaost, or a traitor of sect in Zïdtism.

"Thank you, Toelemo."

"Or rather, if it can also be negotiable, let some body operate in functions that will still benefit the legs."  (The Ivēxür references public works and services: trade routes, postal services, roads, etc.)

The Zēnian company is not opposed to both motions.

Constant scouting and raids are conducted on the northern armies.

OOC: Poor Sordelands, they are missing out on the benefits of being trading partners with Auria.

What did I do to anger Sweisen and Gungixao?

Efforts to rebuild and strengthen South Calzone go well, and an army is trained to defend against the Northern foes who appear to be less northerly than I had believed.  The construction of strong walls and garrisons is funded, and locals are offered a stipend to enroll in a militia to defend South Calzone in any time of crCIA.  The militia will train biweekly and fall under the command of Avalonian officers, although it is hoped that local officers loyal to Avalonia will be able to replace them eventually and boost morale and loyalty.

Realizing that its activities have caused a fair bit of animosity, Avalonia begins to formulate more concrete plans to defend the fatherland should it be necessary.  Parallel to these plans are ones to get the neighbors to like us.  Thusfar, giving the Ormican and Espulian leadership gifts in the forms of iron stuff and horses has proven moderately successful, but Avalonia does not desire that the surrounding lands constantly fear and mistrust it, so some deeper thought is put into the problem.

Idk.  They just don't like you.  No reason in particular.  You might say they are jealous.

and Gungixao?
They don't like your colonies.  They want you to pack out and move away, but other than that, they don't mind you.

The north does the same, and does what it can to create a defense line.

I'm just going to void this little red bit.  You've been playing the "happy-go-lucky" card a lot.  Let's just say they are unaffected.
Also, the Ivēxür has responded.

I'm also very curious why the npc next to me also has a hatred for my country.

They just don't like how many of their tribes left to join you.  They don't hate their relatives and descendants in your land, they just dislike the Aurian government for absorbing the population, and in turn, removing some of their cultural ties.  Most of those from the Sordelands who moved to Auria are loyal to Auria full-heartedly.  Sordelands is more just annoyed with Auria.  Nothing that they will go to war over unless Auria intentionally annoyed them more in that respect.

Makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.
