Author Topic: Anagaea II – A New Age of Empires [1117 AD]  (Read 130939 times)

While political loyalty to the Shogun was high before the coup, his being deposed has caused many to lose faith in him.  About a third of the nation is still really loyal to him, and half of the nation's population is broken into three dozen different factions, while the remainder of people are just trying to weather things out and would not be unhappy to see the Shogun regain power.  A 10% roll can't be handled too easily, you know?

Mm, this is fair, I'll edit this post and set up the state of affairs accordingly at a later date. (I was about to but then I accidentally closed the tab and lost three paragraphs and I can't be forgeted redoing it now.)

Hlaohamarr:  War has strengthened Hlaohamarrs government into one centralized, unified nation.  With this political strength, favorable peace terms are negotiated with Aldegar, ending the war.  Peace terms include a permanent ceasefire and the right for Hlaohamarr to conduct or block trade with Aldegar and Aldegar's partial funding of rebuilding efforts in Hlaohamarr.  (POL:  100%)
Hot damn. I'm liking the narrative my nation has been running on. Small tribes unified by a common interest in power by a high king, live in peace and prosperity for centuries, until finally a civil war breaks out, in which a new more representative system of government is established. Shortly after, a new nation goes to war with a weakened Hlaohamarr, significantly pushing borders further and further back as victory over victory is won. Then, in a last ditch attempt, mass conscription, fiery guerrilla warfare, and mass innovation spur on a resurgence of Hlaohamarr control, with an overall territory increase being the main proponent to ending the war. A now stronger than ever Hlaohamarr, once split by revolt, has unified because of a national victory over a formidable enemy. What will be next? :)

Fine, new version because you do make some sense:
Dysentery spreads throughout Galaumia's camp; a large portion of Galaumia's soldiers near the capitol die and many more are left extremely weakened.  News of this filters into the city and the negotiations.
Thank you.

After noticing bouts of Dysentery in the troops, men are ordered to build their bathrooms further from the camps. They are also ordered not to use any sources of water for the troops as bathrooms.

Forces of the Current King and Revolutionists begin clashing at the borders of Saobar and Lotavik. Verorthodox missionaries begin traveling through Saobar as well as Hlaohamar. Officers of the revolutionist army travel through Saobar offering a chance to fight the evil regime of Lotavik.

The leader of the revoltists is identified as another former army captain by the name of Georgy Malakov.

With the passing of the great Lue Zei, the nation looks towards none other than the newly appointed Living Bao, Dyoeng Sun. After news of war and stories of pirates filled the people with fear, Dyoeng Sun Bao calmed them and explained under his careful leadership, he would secure Ru'sh Naal a position in history as potentially the greatest nation. The wave of national and social pride swept him into office on a landslide victory.

Dyoeng Sun Bao's first order as Representative of the People was to call not only for a national defense force, but an official state army capable of executing the will of Bao and the Ru'sh Naal people. In the first two weeks of open enlistment, more than two-thousand induviduals concripted (a majority of them from the national defense force), and in the coming weeks, even more signed up.

Through a pact with the Navaro tribe, Dyoeng Sun Bao secures the location of a major ore deposite directly north of Ru'sh Naal in Navaro territory. Providing their respect to the environment outside of the mine, the region is handed over for the betterment of the Ru'sh Naal nation.

Wutesi holds a special meeting of parliament to discuss the atrocities occuring right off the shore of her homeland. The Mahowaeaen had long resented the pirate menace that had plagued a region many had believed to be their birthland, more than the island of Mawahe itself.

In the very waters where they have fished for generations they are now being held at sword point to pay taxes to the kingdom of Orshkal, and they have no method of defending themselves!

The pontoons of Lue Zei and the longboats of the Mahowaeae were no match to the superior crafted ships of the Orshkal.
Wutesi demanded military action against the Orshkal using the newly founded national army, yet Dyoeng Sun Bao was wary of Wuetesi's rash demands and instead sent an ambassador to resolve the issue. Wutesi warned that it would be in Mahowaeae's right to act on it's own if the nation refused to represent it further.

The Rustuffe ambassador, Mwanao Kai, arrives in Orshkal carrying with him the propositions for future peace between their nations, bringing with him customary Rustuffe jewelery as a show of good will.

While Ru'sh Naal would accept any taxation of northern routes through the seas in the region, they believe the southern Estic ocean to be a national right, given their use of the seas for the betterment of the interests of people versus the interests of a few individuals. The better that each nation can do on its own the more it can provide to others in times of need. Certainly the king of Orshkal could see the importance of coexistance and the prosperity that free-trade could bring both of their nations.
In Ru'sh Naal, a ruler's duty is to their people, would the king of Orshkal be so just as to grant his own people the benefits that a freer ocean would give them?

The King of Orshkal, at first believing a written response to be a waste of time, takes the advise of his advisers and responds:
"The strong do what they will, and the weak do what they must."
It then goes on to express that as the extermination of actual pirates that Orshkal performs benefits all passing ships, Orshkal has the right to demand payment for services rendered.  So it has been for generations upon generations, and so it will continue to be.

Also, they're not preventing local fishing or anything, just the movement of goods via the sea between settlements that aren't especially close (also their navy isn't so awesome as to prevent all smuggling and they're only now extending their grasp into your area so you can do plenty of it at this point).

Atenisia opens its borders for ALL holy refugees of Albiton.

Atenisia begins to question why Albiton spit, and begins to question the acute stability of Albiton's power.

The condition of Albiton:
The government was ruling over a vast array of interests and was plagued by gridlock, corruption, and an increasingly byzantine bureaucracy.  The East and West have split Czechoslovakia style (peacefully) and are on okay terms with each other.  Both nations are approximately stable and the better for this: East Albiton, ruled by Albiton's long standing rulership, has been relieved of a vast array of problems and interests associated with the West, and the East, ruled by a new elite, no longer feels oppressed by some of the things East Albiton did (for example, the Cassian faith was never more than a sizeable minority, but was imposed so people went along with it) and isn't under the East's overly complicated and corrupt bureaucracy.  The West is not killing people left and right or anything, merely expelling some die hard hardliners in favor of the East's policies (like being super close with Atensia or high involvement with the Holy Nations) and resorting to violence if they resist.

Ah, okay.

Atenisia seeks peace with both East and Western Albiton, HOWEVER, Atenisia proposes that East Albiton should fix its government and flush out any corruption.

It also wants to see some more of a majority of actual Christians in Albiton.

An available stable connection to the mainland is the primary concern of the Mahowaeae, they however feel the right to govern their own waters, regardless the Parliament decides upon the response from Orshkal, to not currently take any actions regaurding travel in the region, the primary funds accruing from their connections through the spice road.
The ocean is more important, claims Wutesi, and can bring them further bounty should they secure it for their own.  Dyoeng Sun Bao says that until the nation can protect its own waters it makes sense to rely on others. Wutesi claims Dyoeng Sun Bao is too weak for rule and calls for reelection of representative of the people, the request is immediately shot down.

The remaining records of the Parliament meetings for the day are withheld from public record by the acting Secretary on request of Dyoeng Sun Bao.

Wutesi resigns as speaker for Mawahae.

After negotiations with Ahijaman IV, he and Phoranixae II came to the conclusion of what is best for Galaumia. I/O troops will leave Galaumia, and a Provisional government will take over for 10 years. At the conclusion of these 10 years, a new constitution will take place. Galaumia will transition into a Republic, transferring power to the people. Phoranixae and his subsequent heirs will lead Assembly discussion and, in times of crCIA, take over as acting leader.

Iraji-Osamarian troops withdraw from Galaumia.

Forces secure positions near the Galaumian borderlands.  Outposts are built and fortified.  Further military movements include rotations within Haman, and a relocation of most of the armies to the southwest.

Haman, after some riots, is established as a monarchy.  Some civilians filter back from Sjinai, seeing that things have stabilized.

The common people seem somewhat pleased with this.  Some of the nobility that were once loyal to Phoranixae I angrily protest this development.  Two noble families denounce the provisional government and the republic, and refuse to swear loyalty.  Many others share the same sentiment.

The noble families will keep their wealth, and share the same amount of power they had under Phoranixae I, which was under their own tribe/clan. But nationwide laws and ideas will be decided upon in the Assembly. Any more denoucement done to either provisional government or republic, will not be met with such a detailed explaination as this. It will be met with action.

This statement arises as more acceptable to the nobles, but the people are discontented.

If the people are dissatisfied with their tribes rules, they are free to leave their tribe and follow strictly state law in the capital.
